Since this is an on board video chip you can't change it out or get a new grapics card. The HP DV6000 doesn't have a graphics card adapter in it. So your best bet would be to replace the motherboard.
Which you can search for online to buy.

Hope this helps.

Hp dv6000 attempts to start led lights come on then shuts down repeats this process

The hp dv6000 has a video card issue that is very comman the cpu heatsink and the video card and conncted to the same copper heatsink and what happens is the video card overheats and the pins that are soldered to the board come loose now there is a couple of ways to fix it option a is to take the laptop apart and remove the motherboard and heatsink and the cpu chip then locate the video chip and isolate the video card and heat it up to remelt the solder points this can be done by taking a aluminum can and cuting out the square that is same size of video chipthen with a heat gun heat up the chip so the solder joints remelt to the board but BE VERY CARFUL IF YOU OVER HEAT THE CHIP IT WILL MELT once the chip has cooled then reistall your cpu chip add new thermal paste and get a flat square piece of copper the size of the cpu chip and put it on the cpu chip then add more thermal paste and put the heat sink back on and reassemble the laptop and if you didnt damage the chip it should fire right up option b is to buy a replacement motherboard that has the upgraged heatsink installed and put that in but make sure yoyu order the right board check the replacement part number sticker on the motherboard and make sure yoyu order the right one i have done this process to about 200 of these hp dv6000 and they are still working today

Hi, I have an HP pavillion dv6000 and the problem is that it doesn't start, i have just bought a new ram, but it still doesnt start, can you please help thanks

These Laptops have an inherent problem with the Video chip. If the computer is powering on but you are not seeing a video on the screen, try using an external monitor on the laptop vga port. If you can get a picture on the external monitor, you have an issue with your screen, and it needs changing. If you cannot get a picture on the external monitor, your video chip is bad and the laptop is finished. Reflowing the graphic chip is usually useless.

Good Luck

Is it difficult to replace a motherboard to HP Pavilion dv6000?

To rate it from 1-10. It's a 6.

You got to watch out for the ribbon cables connectors.

Two person will make it easier. The one with good eye sight and small hand should undo the ribbon connectors.

HP DV6000 has many problem with bad video chip problem.

The only way to fix it cheap is to swap the board.

Hp pavilion dv2000 notebook will not boot up

Go to this Hp website for you could have a grapgics chip fault. One way to test is to plug a VGA monitor into the VGA outlet port on the upper left side of you laptop and start it up. If you get a clear display you have a screen problem - next step remove the external monitor and again boot up but in a darkened room to see if your backlight is off - if you can just see the HP logo in the back ground then your backlight has failed or more rightly - the backlight micro switch under your R/H hinge has failed. A cheap fix. If there is no display external or TFT your Nvidia graphics chip has failed. m/board replacement required BUT you may qualify for free m/board replacement under Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} HP Pavilion dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 and Compaq Presario v3000/v6000 Series Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement go to this site below to see if you qualify
