Changing the dual axle on an Invacare recliner to lower seat

My mother just received an Invacare SX5RC recliner from Hospice. I would like to lower the seat to floor height to 171/2 inches. It is now 2 inches higher which was fine until we put in her 2" seat cushion. On-line it says the chair is dual axle and can be lowered 2 inches. How do you do this? Hospice just has a warehouse of these chairs without any tech help. Thank you.

You will need to remove the rear tires and front casters. If you look at the front caster fork there should be some extra holes where you can re-position the caster wheel. Likewise on the hole where the rear tires mounts there should be a hole above it where you can re-mount the tire. So just move the caster and wheel up to the next hole. If there are no holes to move up to then you cant lower the chair. The only other options would be to install a drop seat which you`ll have to purchase from a dealer or install smaller wheels and casters. So, for instance, say you have 8" casters and 24" wheels you would then install 6" casters and 22" wheels. Good Luck and let me know how it turns out.

How much a switch model MKVI 1089384?

This part is for an Invacare power wheelchair with TRSS. This is a tilt and or recline single switch for actuator control. A search on the Invacare website shows an active part number and no price. A search of e_bay shows pricing between 50 and 150 dollars. This switch is easy to replace. plug the black "Lego " block into the power source, the 2 pin Anderson plug into the actuator and the Molex into the limit switch. You may need to switch the plug polarity of the 2 pin output to the actuator to get it to go in the right direction. The part was used on MkIV and MkV and some MKVI systems and should be readily available on line. Hope this helps.

The wrench symbol is flashing amber, chair won't move what is the problem?

The wrench means that something is wrong with the chair and it may be unsafe to operate. It needs to be checked out by a service man.

My Invacare Wheelchair w/tilt & recline doesn't fully charge. I'm on the third new battery change & still same issue. Could it be my circuit board. Could it be me joy stick?

In any device that has a charging circuit that circuit can fail to charge batteries after a time. Ypu could have an electronics technician check what happens in the charging circuit. As you have changed three batteries the fault must lie elsewhere, as you have deduced.

My son has a invacare chair should go 6 mph but has slowed to a snails crawl. How Can I speed it back up?

The chair may be in what they call SLOW MODE or the batteries are weak. If you have powered seating on the chair the seat has sensors that make the chair drive slow or not drive at all when the seat is tilted or reclined or raised. A sensor can go bad or get out of position. The joystick could have different programming for different drive modes. Try changing drive modes.

How do you raise the metro to make it sit higher off the floor? Is it adjustable

This mnaual wheelchair has dual position rear axles and caster forks to allow seat to floor height changes with no additional components. What this means is that the wheelchair is adjustable in height based upon the position of the front caster wheel axles and rear wheel axles. Raising the axles lowers the chair. Lowering the axle postion raises the chair. If the rear axles of the rear wheels are in the top position you can lower the wheels and raise the chair. Likewise, if the caster axles of the front wheels are in the top hole of the fork then put the wheels and axles in the lower hole to raise the chair. It is easy to accomplish this with basic tools.
If the front and rear wheels are already in the lower holes (the chair is in its highest position) you have another option. This option is a more expensive way to raise the chair by buying 4 new wheels. Lets say for example you have 24" diameter rear wheels. If you purchase new 26" diameter wheels you will raise the chair 1". If you have 6" casters and put on 8" casters this raises the chair 1" in the front. Hope this helps.

Rear wheels making a poping sound

Sounds like the rear axles are a little loose. More likely the rear wheel bearings that fit in the hub race of the wheel are worn out. There are 2 bearings per wheel or 4 total for the 2 rear wheels. They are available from The Aftermarket Group. com. To install, remove the wheel axles and pop out the bearings. Use a soft mallet to hammer in the new bearings. Do not overtighten the axles on assembly. The wheels should spin freely when the wheel is in the air. Hope this helps

The passenger front seat will not recline - how can I fix

2010 Equinox drivers side won't recline.
Found the cable popped off recline mechanism.
Pulled back the lower seat panel near the recline lever after removing one torque screw located on said panel which is on the back of seat. Works great now. By the way, Freedom Chevrolet in San Antonio, Tx, without diagnosis, wanted to charge my girl friend $860 to replace the whole assembly.
