My printer won't print yellow even when I replace the cartridge.

The failure to print yellow came on when the yellow cartridge I replaced was only half empty. Is there a yellow jet blocked? If so how do I unblock it?

My Pixma 5200 will not print magenta. The test page shows faint Magenta lines or nothing. Cleaning and deep cleaning do not fix the problem. I have replaced the cartridge but still no good. This has only just happened and very frustrating. Any solutions apart from junking the printer appreciated.

Desperate measures!

I have a PIXMA MP 750 and months ago my yellow ink stopped printing. I was only able to use the printer for black and white printing. Every once in awhile I would try multiple deep cleans, new ink cartridges, etc. etc. I talked to the very unhelpful folks at Canon who suggested a new print head ($70), but they couldn't guarantee this would actually work. They really thought it would be best just to buy a new printer.

Although I was feeling bad about adding yet another cheap printer to the landfill I'd pretty much decided to get a new printer. As a last resort I decided to use a suggestion I came across (at pcuser.com) to run hot water through the print head. It was easy to remove the print head (check your manual). I propped the head up in my dish drainer and ran hot water straight from the tap first through the end with the little circular parts and then through the end with the metal strips. I eventually used boiling water from the kettle.

As I poured water through one end I started to see yellow ink coming though the other end so I figured the ink had dried in the head. I kept pouring water through (from both ends) until the water ran clear. I dried the print head, put it back in with the cartridges and VOILA! after MONTHS without yellow ink it's working beautifully again!

If you've tried everything else and feel desperate enough to buy a new printer you might want to try this and report back.

I have a four in one Lexmark x5630 printer and have replaced cartridges with brand new black and colour 36 & 37xl. The printer won't even print a test page - just says that cartridge error co

The problem could be due to a communication failure between one of the printheads (cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge issues:

  1. Make sure the printer is on.
  2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.
  3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  7. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  8. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
Try to contact the store where you bought the new cartridge(s) and have them replace it. You may also contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance (especially if you're using genuine cartridges).

I have a PIXMA iP4300 and just want to use it for black and white document printing. My 'M' and 'C' color cartridges ran out a while ago and I disposed of them but didn't replace them...

Hello,
Most of the Canon printers form the PIXMA iP series block printing when one of the cartridges is empty. You have some options: 1) change the cartridges (with original or compatible) 2) buy a chip resetter and reset the empty cartridges chip so they can cheat the printer that they are full. This way you will clog the nozzles of your print head and the printer will become useless and won't print.
That's why I suggest you to but even cheap compatible cartridges and replace them.
Hope this helps. Alex

Yellow won't print

First try to replace the yellow toner cartridge. After that, try re-seating the cartridge (take out the cartridge and place it back in carefully making sure it is seated correctly). If this does not resolve the issue, clean the print heads and connections on the cartridge. This can be done by removing the cartridge and swabbing the connections with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Also, while the cartridge is removed, swab the connections to the cartridge that are inside the printer where the cartridge is seated.

Cannot get yellow to print

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge. Yellow quit printing, put in a new yellow and still would not print yellow. I had a help file, don't know where I got it, but it suggested replacing the black ink cartridge also, even though the black wasn't low yet. Replaced the black, ran a few nozzle cleans and everything worked fine. Don't know why. Try it
