I would say you have more problen than vertical lines. You may have Graphic adapter issues, Have you damaged the machine, drop, bump, jarred..etc.? Have you done any updates, ugrades to software, hardware?
Michael,
Its best when asking for help regarding these type of issues, to include as much information as possible. Max is right on with his questions. If you can start by answering those questions, we can assist you much better.
Something else you can try is to plug in an external monitor if you have one. If the lines are still present on the external monitor, then most likely you have an issue with the graphics chipset or a faulty connection between it and the LCD.
Are you seeing just 1 or 2 lines or is the entire screen covered with them?

Ok Great so if your up to the task, reseating the connections can sometimes help, but its no guarantee. Here is a link to where you can download the service manual for your laptop. I cant guarantee its the exact one, but have a look through it. It shows it is for the Aspire 5810T/5810TZ/5410T/5810TG Series, so it should work.http://www.manualowl.com/m/Acer%20Comput... I did have a look at it, so the manual is legit and does cover the disassembly process for the LCD.
