Kenmore HE3 washer emits steady, constant beeeeeeeeeeeeeep

The signal that normally beeps for end of cycle emits steady, constant and loud tone during entire wash, rinse and spin cycles. No error codes shown. Cycles seem to run fine. Diagnostic test shows no problems.

forgot to note - I unplugged the washer for 15 minutes, but tone came right back upon restart.

Depending on how your washer controls the beeper, it could be a stuck relay or a fried transistor.
