If you suspect you have a defective timer it can easily be replaced by performing the following steps:

1. Unplug washing machine... and pull out the timer knob. Some knobs have a removeable center cap and hidden screw. Some are simply slip-fit. Remove the knob.

2. Remove console. This can be accomplished in one of two ways depending on which type of console you have.

a. If the console has removable end caps, the caps lift off by prying on the top from the back of the washer.
The cap will pull off towards you as you are facing the unit from the front of the washer.
There will be a screw under each end cap that you will need to remove.

b. If the console does not have removable end caps, you will need to slide a putty knife under the front corner of each side and push in while lifting up.
There is a retaining clip under each side that has to be released.

3. Once the console has been released it will lift up and fold back over the back of the washer in its resting position. Use care not to stress the small plastic hinges that hold it on. They can break easily.

4. Disconnect all power plugs and remove the timer's mounting screws.

5. Reinstall reverse of removal.

Water won't drain from tub.how to change pump.everything else works fine. nothing pluged.

Does water drain when washer goes from wash to rinse or is it just at the end after rinse. It could be a switch on the cycle timer not working if it doesn't pump out at all. If it doesn't pump out at only the end maybe one of the cams on the timer that makes the switch to dump water is loose or broke.

My Kenmore 11020022012 washer stops prior to spinning cycle. If I manually turn the dial to spin, it will spin fine. Need help troubleshooting..

timer needs new electric motor to advance from rinse to spin cycle.
or alternately ,you can have your old timer taken out of your washer and sent out to be rebuilt or buy a new timer.
in any case , you will need a kenmore washing machine repairman to take out your old timer and send it away to be rebuilt and expect that to take 2 or 3 weeks
the timer rebuild used to cost$ 50.00 in 1993 and a new timer went for $110.00 to $129.00
for a sevice man to take out and reinstall a timer $60.00 to 100.00 labor
try to google.com or bing.com or ask.com-----and type in : kenmore washing machine, rebuilt timer. you will need the model number of the washer as well as the model number of the timer and the timer may have a different name that kenmore
also try typing in kenmore washer, new replacement timer
try call sears and see how much their service man wants to put in a new timer. I am sure prices have gone up since 1993
when I retired from the major appliance repair busness. i could do the timer remove & install, but I probably live 1000 miles from you.
another option: knowing that you will need to spend around $200.00 or more by the time you get a new timer installed
you might want to see how much lowes or home depot wants for their cheapest bottom of the line washer. that might be a good alternative as it allows you to get a new washer and buy an extended warantee so you dont get stuck with another 200.00 repair. I think they have washers starting at 289.95 only 90.00 morte that repairing your old washer which is going to run for how many more years before it again gives you trouble?
check out lowest prices on bottom of the line washers unelse you want to spend a lot on a fancy washer to make yourself happy.
you can shop on line by just google.com or bing.com and the name of the store. home depot, lowes, sears, walmart
and type in clothes washers.

Dryer has a burning smell

My Kenmore 94702 dryer element overheated and the rubber inside the tub caught fire. Can anyone tell me how to find out if this problem has been reported by other owners of the Kenmore model or owners of the same model sold by the actual manufacturer?

DRYER PROBLEM

When the pads on the front wear, it will make noise when running. They can be replaced. There is one on the top and one on the bottom rim where the drum turns. You remove the front to access them by removing the screws on the top. Post your model number for diagrams. It's usually stamped on a small tag in a visible location on your appliance.

Washer-Dryer- behind or on top of the control panel. Behind the door. On the lower front or side of the cabinet.

When washer fills it does not stop unless done manually

HI, i recommend testing the timer/control device for faults. make sure it is spinning and not shorted. if the timer/control device is in good condition, this will confirm a serious fault in the water valve assembly(inlet). replace this device in this case.
