I went Through changing the transmission and seal kit Atlantis Series 17 High Torque PN# 21001867 with 21001868. Because of this no spin problem. Only to find out that it was the thrust bearing 12002213 that was shot.

Yes you can do it yourself no special tools are need just a couple good flathead screwdrivers and a lot of patiance be sure to put all the new washers and bearing back on in the same order the old ones came off putting the C clip on can be a little tricky but take you time and it can be done you may hvw to use the flat head to pry on the trans. shaft to get the clip in the groove then use a pair of chanell locks or pliers to snap it on if you get a new style bearing it may not look like the one you take off and not have all he washers just snap the small plastic pice onto the bearing put it on the the pulley the most of the time just the thin washe then the C clip the dust cover put belt back on the test machine

I have a MAV6300AWW, it works fine, it drains in spin cycle, but does not spin. What needs replacement?

You will need to replace the thrust bearing. The Instructions are included and there is a video on that same page to show you how to make the repair. Whirlpool 12002213 Thrust Bearing Kit AppliancePartsPros com

I purchased the new thrust bearing kit part # 12002213 and installed however when I put on the thin washer there is not enough room to install the e clip in to the ridge on the shaft.

Yes i too have problem with that and i am a appliance tech and have replaced 100's of thrust bearing kits. What you need to do is use a screwdriver and place it opposite of where your going to install the E clip and pull the transmission shaft down for a bit more room,it takes me as much as a hour doing this sometimes but endure and eventually it will go on!

Good luck,

My Maytag performa washer will not agitate or go into the spin cycle. It makes a loud noise instead

From what you're describing I suspect the thrust bearing needs replaced. The thrust bearing is what releases the brakes. You will not be able to rotate the basket manually with the brakes set. I recommend replacing the thrust bearing kit part number

My washer doesn't wring the clothes out, they are sopping wet.

You are going to need this kit 12002213
Your washer features a main drive pulley with a cam riser the releases the brake and allows the tub to spin.
When the motor turns in one direction the tub is locked and the agitator moves back and forth. When the motor turns in the opposite direction the main drive pulley releases the brake and as the water gets propelled out the tub begins to spin. So what can go wrong? When the cam riser gets wear it won't release the brake. The tub won't move and the clothes will be soggy. Here is a great pictorial of what is involved in replacing the thrust kit. along with some manuals and other stuff. My Maytag notes

Washer making rattle noise during wash and spin cycle

Hi,

I would agree with that diagnosis. That is a symptom of a worn thrust bearing for sure and it is a quite common occurrence on your style of washer.

I wouldn't rule out debris in the drain pump as another possibility as well though, i.e. small stones, jewelry, etc. You may want to rule out that possibility before throwing money at a pulley & thrust bearing kit ( it is actually a "transmission pulley kit" which comes with a new thrust bearing as well ). part # 12002213 and retails for about $40-$50 see photo's below.

Hope that answer's your question. Let me know if I can assist you further and thank's for visiting "fixya" for your repair inquiry. Please take a second and rate this info I provided for you here.

Good luck.

Maytag PAV2300 - Washer agitates during wash. on spin cycle motor runs and belt is fine, but drun does not spin. Water drains. Why does it not spin?

Hi, The most common problem is the thrust bearing kit. The thrust bearing is located on the lower shaft of the transmission. The kit includes a new pulley and hardware. The part #12002213 also includes instructions.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.

Thanks

My Maytag Performa PAV2300AWW washer doesn't wring the clothes well enough, the towels are still dripping wet,it seems it doesn't spin fast enough. What can be the cause and the solution?. Thank you from...

Sears has the part you need:
pd_26_464_12002213?$pddetailsth$ #24 on diagram Thrust bearing kit (series 10) Number:12500036Substitution:12002213 $31.28 In stock Quantity Add To Cart To be sure you have the correct one your serial number should start with 10. One thing to remember when installing the new kit (which comes with extra washers) If you have too many washers then the tub will not lock down for wash mode and the clothes will get all knotted up. If you have too few washers then the brake will not release and the drum will not spin. So make a note of just how many was on the old unit AND the order they came off.

Washer not spinning

Sounds like the brake liner could be broken. When the machine starts to spin, the motor turns in the opposite direction to the wash cycle and causes the bowl to lift off the brake liner and the bowl then spins freely. Either the riser cam is worn/broken or the brake liner is broken. This is quite involved and you may have to call in a tech.
