Motorola DCT 6200/1000 seems to only have one audio output?

I have a Series 2 DT TiVo hooked up to my DCT 6200/1000 with RCA cables. I also have the cable box hooked directly to my T.V. through component cables. The Component input on my T.V is showing both audio and video, but the cable input ( with the TIVo) does not have sound coming from my cable box. Can anyone confirm that the DCT 6200/1000 only has one audio output, and, if so, is there any possible setting to change or firmware update to change that?

It has two sets of component ports. red, white, red, blue, green.

Thanks, I will explore all of those options. Can you also verify whether this cable box is only able to output one audio source?

Does your unit have a yellow, red, and white input jacks?

It should have that but the order on it is a little different.

There are three options:

1) Connect the Tivo using the coax output of the cable box into the cable input of the Tivo

2) Exchange cable boxes with your cable provider for one with composite output jacks. It may require you to use a Motorola box that isn't High def depending on what your provider has. I know Comcast has a Motorola HD tuner that has composite outputs as well as component.

3) Upgrade to a Series 3 Tivo. Those units are designed for High Def. Use HDMI cable hookup.

Tivo turns off TV

Hi,

For some reason your Tivo is tripping the internal breaker of your TV. Check the cables and see that they are not damaged and are connected properly (all the cables that hook up to the Tivo). If you have a spare set of cables, try them to see if the TV still turns off.

It seems to me that you have only got one set of RCA Cablec between the TV and VCR ( from VCR Video out to TV Video In), as such the VCR only works in playback mode, you need a second set of RCA cables (from TV Video Out to VCR Video In) then select the appropriate input (Video) for the VCR. make sure to follow the colour coding on the RCA plug / socket arrangement

I have a ViP 722. It has no rf output for TV1, just the hookup for TV2. The multi RCA hookup for HD. HD is not as important to me as is a clean picture and audio on my TV. No matter how I do it, I get a...

Okay I am not positive I have this right as far as the configuration of the system but I will give it a shot. If you run the 722 to the tv using rca's you get the hum. I assume this as there are no inputs on a dish 722 receiver. I can suggest one possible solution which is to buy an rf modulator. It will convert the signal from rca to coax so you can connect as you wish. There are several types out there so ensure you get the one that converts from rca to coax. I would suggest the following configuration: Remove all connections from tv and hook 722 up via rca's to rca input 1 on the tv, check for hum. If it is present now you need a new 722 as it is passing to much power thru the connection. If there is no hum connect your cable and tivo to the tv via whatever inputs you have remaining. Lastly connect the DVD player to another input that is free. You will have to system through your inputs to view the three sources but should not have the hum. I hope this solves your issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Dvr not connecting to tivo

Try 255.255.255.0 for a subnet mask. That should be the one by default. Usually the network setup on your Tivo should be automatic when it looks for the router. Is the wireless turned on the router?

Connecting my Humax Series 2 Tivo to a Motorola HD DCH3416 Cable Box

Yes, the Tivo will just record in standard definition, instead of high def.

You can still hook the two up together, though.

What I would suggest (and have done in the past) is this:
Split the cable coming out of the cable box.
Hook one up to your HD cable box, and the other up to the Tivo.
Hook the output of your HD cable box to one HD input on your TV
Hook the output of your Tivo up to a different (non-HD) input on your TV.

This will allow you to watch HD while recording standard definition, and vise versa.

Running the HD through the Tivo will work, but will limit you to not be able to watch HD through it.

Tivo Programing

You either don't have it hooked up right w/ the source video cables connected or if you've changed setups from one tv to another (different cable box or input) you need to go through guided setup again, but first check your cables, ensure they are going to the inputs (rca or coax) and not going to the outputs.

Series 2 tivo

You shouldn't unplug the ribbon cable and power on the unit, ever!

Make sure the ribbon cable is 100% in the motherboard, and the front ribbon cable as well, also ensure they aren't damaged. If you can't even get the startup screen, or any type of video output, then your motherboard is most likely shot and I'd see what tivo can do for you.
