If the sound bar has the red and white cable then yes you can use those. Make sure in your settings for the TV you have it set for an external audio source. Since you don't want to use the built in speakers. Probably best to get a tuner if using multiple speakers and a sub.

SOURCE: "No Signal" when DVD player is hooked up via component video

If you are using the same cables, same input and the cable box works ok. I would look into the settings of the DVD player. Such as is it a progressive playback and is progressive turned on. It is not turned on by default because not all TV's could handle progressive in.

SOURCE: Remote not turning the Zenith Plasma Display Panel TV on/off.

the remotes are usually multi function .. that is, they can control more than just the TV .. make sure TV mode is selected ... if its in VCR mode or Cable or whatever then it wont control the TV .. if its a programmable remote then it may have lost its program and would have to be set up again ... if its the original that came with the tv then that shouldnt happen . once in a while but not often i see a bad LED (at the tip of the remote) ... those are infra red so you cant see the light beam but a digital camera can .. point the remote at the digital camera and you should see the LED flashing in the cameras viewer when a button on the remote is pushed ...

I have no sound from Xbox HDMI connection.

you likely connected it with one or both units involved on and HDMI does not like that--prone to all sorts of audio issues.

If in doubt unplug the units and wait and plug back up making the connections first.

I have a z50p3 I tried to hook a samsung 1600

Sorry, man I have the same problem, with the same tv and player. Did you ever get a solution? LG Service Tech came out and his LG bluray player worked, whereas my Samsung didn't hooked to the TV. (It would spordically work going thru my HK254 AVR.)

He said either 1) the Samsung player was defaulting to a format that the Zenith being 3 years old could not decode (eg. 1080P) or that I might need to change inputs several times to get it to sync up or 3) by an LG Bluray player.

He said the Zenith was old and that newer sets are built with circuitry to help navigate the handshake easier. He couldn't find any service bulletins on it, and the one I got from LG he said didn't exist.

Snow no connection to cable box

the fact that you are seeing snow tells me that your tv in in the tuner mode .. your cable box is more likely hooked up to the AV input (composit video + 2 sound channels ..3 wires total) .. or it could be hooked up to component inputs (5 wires total) ... you will have to go to the menu of the TV and choose the proper input ... if your cable box is actually connected thru the tuner (coax cable to RF input .. one cable) then you have to select the same channel on the tv as what the cable box is set to .. that is usually chan 2 or 3 ... there is also an svideo input on your tv .. that can take the place of the composit input ..
here is a diagram of the back of your set so you can determine how its hooked up ..

Hooking up a convertor , when i have a vcr, dvd player

You can hook it up through the antennae system. Keep your dvr connected to the tv the way you had it. Hook up your TV rabbit ears antennae to the converter box in the connection on the left side of the box. Then hook up the antennae lead from the converter box to your TV on the right side connector. The only thing I'm wondering is, do you get stereo sound this way and does anyone know how to get it without hooking up the separate audio and video plugs? There aren't enough connections on the tv to hook up both sets.
