Take it back to the Dealer.( He probably has a guarantee on the work he did). Let him show you how it works. If he won't do this then it is definitely time to find a more reputable dealer. If you paid for a repair it should have been repaired.

You are absolutely correct - your machine doesn't come apart much because it is an electronic machine. There really are very few moving parts in modern sewing machines - and the electronics are better left to a technician who's been specifically trained.
It sounds as if your machine is no longer in time (needle rubbing the plate as it goes around if I'm understanding correctly). While not really a "major" repair, unfortunately with computerized/electronic machines, retiming your machine is something better left to an authorized Pfaff technician.
If the needle struck metal as you were stitching/basting, there may also be a rough spot/burr on the hook that your technician will be able to smooth off as well.
Hope this helps get you back up and running soon.
Happy stitching,
Kim & Linnette

SOURCE: buttonhole on second side was only half the length of first side
Hi, did you buy the machine from a dealer - if so, I would take it back and ask them to show you how to do buttonholes again. It is also possible that, although the test buttonholes sewed out correctly, the automatic button sensor needs professional adjustment.
Before going back to the dealer, find the section in your manual that discusses buttonholes and read thru it very carefully. Pfaff machines are not intuitive, and the manual might describe a way to adjust the automatic buttonhole settings so they sew out correctly.
If you need more help, please repost and I'll try to help or put you in touch with a dealer who can help
Good luck, Ginny

Where has it been for ten years? This could have a big affect on an electronic sewing machine.
Take the machine in to a sewing machine shop for service.
