You have a reflector scope. the bottom of the scope has a mirror, you look thur the eye piece near the top, the top end has a cover that should "pop" off. it is use to keep dust out of the tube when it is stored and not in use.

Meade DS 2000 Goto Reflector scope. I am looking for the base goto motor assembly housing witch houses the motor and gears. Can anybody please help?

You cannot actually get parts for this scope other than from Meade directly-- and possibly a USED motor on Ebay. Usually Meade wants you to send in the scope for repair and will not sell you any gears or motors.

You have several Astronomy club's nearby. get one of the members to help you with the scope.

By the way the eyepiece and focuser is on the UP end of the tube!

I bought a basic Meade DS 2114 GOTO astronomical telescope for my father who is only just getting into telescopes and astronomy. As both of us are just beginners and mainly use the telescope leisurely, we...

NO it is NOT missing a lens-- all astronomical telescopes show upside down images.

You can buy an "erecting prism" diagonal for terrestrial viewing, but you do not need it to view the night sky.

Here is an example of the erecting prism:

The autostar on my ds-2114 ats has stopped working. new battiers were installed & power light works but no reads outs on hand controller.

Could just be a bad cable. See if you can find a new one or buy a new one from Meade.

www.meade.com

You can also try reversing the cable. (depends on the Meade telescope). If a new cable does not fix it, then you will have to buy a new controller. Never plug or unplug the hand controller while the scope is turned ON.

Meade DS-2000 Manual Doesn't have info. about Meade Ds-2130

ds-2000 refers to the model line of the scope. ds-2130 the 130 refers to the diameter of the objective lens in mm. I have a ds-2114. Where the objective lens is 114 mm in diameter. as far as the manual goes everything else should be the same.
