My upright freezer FUF 14DVARWW stopped working and a technician advised the control panel was bad. The technician ordered the part for me and advised when I receive just snap the new control panel in place and follow the instructions in programming it for your specific freezer FUF 14DVARWW. I received the control panel but there were no codes to program it for my specific freezer. I installed the control panel and the freezer turned on. QUESTION - Do I need to program the new control panel for my specific freezer or the only thing I need to do is what I did and just install the control panel? I don't want to damage my freezer. The technician made it sound like if I don't program the control panel that it would damage my freezer (compressor would not know when to turn off and on...). Also any advise on what type of surge protector I should use? Our electricity goes of every couple months and the last time it went off is when the control panel went bad. I assume a surge protector may help protect the control panel when the electricity goes off and on. Plus our freezer is in the garage and is connected to a GFCI electrical outlet and we keep losing all our food when the electricity goes out because the outlet trips off, so I plan to use a regular outlet (not a GFCI) to save our food. Sorry so long. Thank you!

Your compressor start relay contacts may be getting loose or worn, resulting in a delayed start on the compressor.
If the start device includes a capacitor, it could be getting weak.
GFCI are not good receptacles for devices with high starting torque.

2 months old should still be under warenty.
Check the freezer fan by opening the freezer door and pressing the door switch and listing for the freezer fan sound. If no sound then the fan motor could be bad.
Look at the back wall too see if you have frost build up. If you do then you have a defrost problem.
If thees are not your problem you could have a seal system problem. (( freon leak ))

have an amp draw test on your freezer the compressor could be starting to go
Hello Ricco, thanks for your post!
Based off the information you have provided it sounds like a possible issue with your control panel or power cord within your Frigidaire freezer. I would recommend performing a reset on your freezer and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord for roughly ten minutes. If you continue to experience an issue with the freezer I would recommend consulting with a professional technician for a proper diagnosis to be completed. Best of luck! -Matt
Hello Ed Greene, thank you for your inquiry!
I see that your Frigidaire freezer is not operating. You explained that the outlet is working and the lights or controls are non-operational. It sounds like a potential issue with the power cord or control panel within your freezer. It would be best to have a technician come out to the home to review the freezer to diagnosis the correct problem and replace parts as necessary. This will help avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt
