Machine fills and agitates, but won't drain

The washing machine fills and agitates, but completely stops when it comes time to drain. So I do not know if it will spin because the timer knob stops when the wash cycle (agitation) reaches the ''spin'' mark on the dial. Once it stops, no draining occurs and the soapy water just sits there. I've pulled out all of the wet soapy clothes and still no action. It will, however, still fill and agitate if I return the dial to the start postition again. It just keeps on stoping in the same spot (''rinse'' mark on the knob) with no draining. after rinse washer wont drain and spin

I had the same issue: lid switch not connecting. Lid switch is standard across Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid and others. My problem was the switch assembly came apart so the switch lever would not connect with the lid plunger. The switch itself was fine; it clicked and tested connectivity OK. One zap strap and I was back in business. If your switch is fried or corroded a new one can be found on-line for $15 or at your local appliance repair shop for $50. Very easy fix. If you are really stuck waiting for a replacement the switch can be by-passed with a short piece of standard house electrical wire, just be careful of spin cycle - no peeking! SOURCE: machine fills and agitates, but won't drain

It sounds like you pump is clogged. If there is something stuck in your pump the motor can't spin it to drain the water. If that is the problem then it's easy to fix. Simply clear the pump and put it back on, just make sure to clamp off the hoses to the pump with hose clamps or you will have water every where. If that is not the problem though then it means that your timer is bad and that is a little more expensive. Try the pump first though and hope that that is all it is. If not, like I said, you will need a new timer but most likely your pump is just clogged with something that is causing the pump motor to not spin. It could be a coin or a hair pin or even a sock or something. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Washing Machines will not rinse or spin

If the water won't drain out of your washing machine, either something is stuck in the drain hose or pump, or the pump is broken. Both fixes are simple if you're even just a little bit handy with tools. We're showing the repair on a Maytag washing machine.
What is wrong with a washer that does not spin?
If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drivewashing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle.

What causes a washing machine not to drain and spin?
If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing.

Beko WMP652W washing machine will start cycle but get stuck at end of wash, doesnt go onto rinse or spin any help please?

see the next steps and use the common sense: God bless you
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. Washing machine won't fill. i filled it by hand with water, it won't agitate either, only spins.

The inlet solenoid is probably bad. And it won't agitate unless it fills and stops filling automatically.

Kenmore washer 90 series continue to fill w/water. Load size won't stop the fill... had to shut off water source. won't get to agitate phase... just want to stay at fill stage... can drain, spin,...

Sounds like the fill switch needs to be replaced. A good way to test it is to set your machine on low fill and see if it fills past 3/4. If it does, it's the fill switch.

Hi

If the cycle won't complete then either it's a problem with the timer or a cold-water supply problem:-

If your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water.

The cycle does not go

The typical problem is a bad water pump. Your washing machine would still do the agitation part, though. It would just stop when it came time to drain the tub. Replacing the water pump every so often is almost routine maintenance on old machines. It's inexpensive and fairly easy.
If it won't agitate, there's another possibility. You have a safety mechanism that keeps the washing machine from doing the spin cycle when the lid is open (you wouldn't want your kid reaching in there while the machine is spinning). I think most machines will agitate with the lid open, but some machines might not - while there is a slight safety risk, many people want to add bleach, laundry additives, etc, while the machine is agitating.
There should be a pin on the lid that goes into a hole and pushes the safety latch when the lid is closed. If you're missing that pin, you need to replace it (that would be a good problem, since the replacement pins are very cheap).
Once the machine fills up, push a screwdriver into the hole a little ways and see if the machine starts working.
