Having the same problem, says out of paer and makes a loud clicking noise.

I found that if I have only a few pieces of paper in the paper tray it won't make the noise, and I can use the bypass tray instead.

The clicking sounds seems to be made by the small gears on the side of the tray. When you move the gears, it should push a plate beneath the paper upwards, and the paper with it, allowing the paper to be feed.

I'm not sure what I did to fix it. I removed the paper and cleaned both feeding rectangles (to the front of the tray -- nearest you). One is underneath the paper and the other is in the front, center.

I then made sure that, when I move the biggest gear (the one that isn't round) that the paper moves upwards.

I had the exact same problem, and for me at least, the problem was the tray being too tight for the paper. The only change I made was adjusting the back of the tray to fit the paper. When I tried it again with the tray too tight, the problem returned.

My CanonPC940 won't grab paper and push it through to print-also makes a a loud "grinding" noise. How can I fix this?

Sounds like a tire may have slid off of a wheel. Yes they have wheels. Also paper soaks up water like a sponge always keep your paper in the wrapper it comes in and the top side of the paper is where the seam is. Make sure you put the paper in so that the top side is the side going through the machine. I do how ever believe you have a wheel or gear out of place.

Keep getting out of paper error and paper wont feed makes loud grinding noise

A screw or something else is in the printer not allowing the gear to move freely.

When I go to print or copy the machine makes a loud clicking noise and then says paper jam. Brother MFC - 8460 N

Hello,
The loud clicking noise is either the toner cartridge or the paper feed. If the jam occurs in the drum and toner cartridge then I recommend changing the toner.
If the paper is not being fed at all then you need to have the paper feed kit replaced.
Thanks,
Pat

My MFC8460N Brother won't print. It makes this

Gears on the tray is broken, or the gears that lift the tray. (thus the clicking noise). And the no paper is due to the actuators underneath not being activated because of the non lift.

Weird noise from printer carriage

The loud clicking noise is probably the carriage trying to move and something is keeping it from doing so. Check to see there are no foriegn objects obstructing the carriage head from moving across the paper. If nothing is found, then likely a hardware error exists.
hope this helps!
