Friends say When i speak sounds like Static any 1 know how to change setting or find it in computer. Im using Satellite Fusion

The external microphone itself could be the culprit, or its connection to the 3.5mm port could be flaky. To test the theory do this:

1 Connect an external microphone to the computer.

2 Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder.

3 Click the Record button and speak normally into the microphone.

>>>> WIGGLE THE CONNECTION AT THE LAPTOP OR FLEX THE MIC CABLE WHILE RECORDING. Maybe even narrate what you are doing while you record your voice. "Flexing cable near mic, now near plug..." <<<<

NOTE: You can only record 60 seconds at a time.

4 When you have finished recording, click the Stop button.

5 To hear what you just recorded, click the Play button.
6 To save the file, select Save from the File menu.

>>>> If you hear crackling in the playback that correlates with your handling of the cable then bad seating or a bad cable are the problem. <<<<

Adjusting recording quality

The better the quality of the recording, the more disk space the sound file requires. Experiment to find a balance that fits your needs.

1 Open Sound Recorder, if necessary (click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder).

2 In the Sound Recorder window, click Edit, then click Audio Properties.

3 In the Audio Properties window, adjust the Sound Playback quality and volume, and the Sound Recording volume.

4 Click OK.

Your new settings take effect the next time you record.

Did you get anywhere with this? I have a similar problem with a DVD/PVR from Woxter. I've tried different cables and changed many of the settings without luck. I've seen a couple of posts which suggest changing country and sound settings (to PCM), so I'll check them out before I call in a repairman to check out the circuitry around the sound output.

My laptop microphone isnt working

Good day, Hi, to test your laptop mic, open the sound recorder. 1. if you ar using XP, goto START, All Programs, Accessories, Entertaiment, Sound Recorder. If the sound recorder loads normally, press the red button, shout as load as you can, you will see sound waves on the recorder. 2. If the sound recorder does not loads, chances are your mic isn't working properly, Load the device Driver for your mic, you can find the driver on the CD that came with your laptop, if not you may need to go to the Internet to find the MIC driver. 3. If the driver is loaded on your laptop, chances are it may be defective, you have 2 options, 1. replace the mic on your laptop, which requires you to dismantel it, get the defective mic and replace it. 2. just get an external mic. hope this may help.

This model does NOT work well with HD boxes. I would double-check the Philips website, and upgrade the firmware for device since all 3 players were doing same thing.
