Just check this set connected to any external audio devices, such as an amplifier. Use TVs'audio out connections to the audio in connections of the amp, and see whether the amp produces sound. If yes, the fault will be either to the inside speaker of your set, or its audio output card. If there is no sound produced by the amp too, the digital processor section of the TV's main board is faulty. The main board has to be replaced.
On that model the conv IC is usually not the solution. I believe its the blown capacitor problem with is an easy fix. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com for a repair kit.
Replace the main board. That board controls all the symptoms you're having. You can get the Vizo Main Board 3642-0182-0150 thats the board for your model from www.tvcircuitboards.com it has a 6 month warranty
Don't know what a placer main is. Maybe the person was from the deep south who told you this. And they actually said "Ya nee-ta 'place 'er main board, sunny"
So they suggested a new Main board. But I would try checking the inverter board or CCFL's first. Try shining a flashlight at the screen while it's on and producing sounds. See if there's a dim picture. This means that you really do have a picture still, but the backlights aren't lighting up, so you can't see it.
Ya nee ta 'place yer 'verter board, maybe co-catho flor-sent ligh's too!
yea it sounds like a main-board or inverter board.. sounds like the panel of the television is loosing power and you are still getting sound..
Olevia did go out of buss.. but i know this 3rd party repair center called Amergence technology is offering to repair Olevia's. But the thing is that the whole television will have to get service they don't sell parts so you might want to give them a call and get an idea on the repair quote.. 866-965-3842
