SOURCE: Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim

SOURCE: maytag a612 washer with leaking drain hose

There are 2 bolts on the underside of the machine top at the front. Removing them will free the top from the body.

Maytag bravos mct ecoconserve leaking water

Hi Kim, what you need to do is lean the washer back to see where the leak is coming from. It could be a split hose or a damaged tub. You could also have a bad tub seal. If it's not easily visible, you may need to call a local repair company. Hope that helps.

My washer stopped and shows LF. What do I do?

For Maytag top-loading washers, the LF code indicates that there is a problem with the incoming water to the washer. First check if the valves are fully open at the inlets (hot and cold). Make sure that the hoses aren't kinked.

Next turn off the incoming water valves and take off the hoses from the back of the washer. Clean the filters that are on the washer inlets. Reconnect the hoses and check for leaks. (Some hoses will seal themselves if they detect a leak; you may want to use new hoses when you reattach the hoses.)

Make sure that the incoming water pressure is above the minimum 10 psi. (I live in a rural area. When the water company has a problem with the pump, broken pipe or power outage, low water pressure can be a problem. We wait until the problem is fixed before using the washer.)

Next check if the drain hose has been put too deep into the stand pipe. If the outlet of the hose is below the water level in the washer, the water will be siphoned directly into the drain. The flow will trigger the LF error.

If none of the above solve the problem, then either the valves or the incoming water pressure sensor on the washer has a problem. You will need to replace the appropriate parts.

I hope this helps.

it sounds like the main water seal has burnt out and all this water is running through the washer drum bearings,,,this will wash the grees out of them so soon the washer will be making a lot of noise as well mostly on the spin speed first,,,
you need to fit new drum bearings and drum water seals,,,

Leaking water

When your Maytag top load washing machine leaks water, you will need to check the following parts until you find where the leak is coming from.

The water valve: The first place you need to check is behind the washer. Check the two fill hoses and the water mixing valve.
Check for pinholes or cracks on the plastic body of water mixing valve.

Remove the front panel : The next thing you need to do, is to remove the front panel so you could see the tub and the hoses.
Set the washer on the regular cycle and turn it on so it could start filling.
Use a drop light and check all the hoses under the washer as the washer is filling.
Make sure to keep your hands away from any moving parts.

The pump : If the hoses are ok, check the pump for leaks. When the bearings in the pump wear out, that is when the pump will get noisy and that could cause your Maytag washing machine to leak water.

The stem & seal : Another place that the washer could leak water from, is the stem & seal on the holding tank.
When washer leaks water from the stem & seal, the water will leak down the center of the transmission.
When the stem & seal need to be replace, the tub bearing has to be replace at the same time. This is an expensive repair if you have to pay someone to do it. If you do it yourself it will cost you about $110.

Need APPROXIMATE water consumption on 10 yr old Whirlpool washer

Hello. The older top load washers use up to 60 gallons of water per load. That said, also check your toilets as a leaking toilet can use tens of thousands of gallons per year. Here is a link that explains how to check your toilets and other items for leaks. Regards, Joe
