Make sure both pulleys the belt contacts are in alignment. Look for any metal parts close to the belt that may be shredding the belt.

Dryer belt is loose, how to adjust tension in idler arm?

It sounds like you didn't install the belt onto the idler pulley in the correct S-shape. The idler pulley should always keep the belt tight under spring tension (no adjustment screws).
Here is a video, and tho it is a completely different model, almost all dryer belts/pulleys are installed in this manner. You can skip to the 2:30 to 2:45 time frames, where it then shows exactly how to re-install the belt on the idler pulley.

The interior tub is not rotating

You either have a loose or broke drum belt, idler pulley or tension spring are broke, or a loose or broke motor pulley. If you want to check yourself you need to remove screws below lint trap door, remove screws from bhind control panel on the outerback, take a flathead screwdriver or putty knife to the bottom front corners of the lid to loosen clips, and lift shell to view drum and belt.

Changing dryer belt on kirkland/whirlpool dryer took apart dryer but dont see where belt suppose to mount.

Hello. The belt goes around the tub and the tension pulley. In fact, it is always a good idea to replace both the belt and the idler/tension pulley at the same time. J.

If you want a schematic go to searsdirect.com and enter your model number. J.

This is a Estate (Whirlpool) Dryer. My son turned

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.

While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Good luck,
I hope this helps

Belt drum replacement

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured dryer (which inlcudes Kenmore, Roper, Estate, Kitchenaid, and Frigidaire), just follow these steps:

a. Loop the drive belt around the dryer drum with the groove side facing the drum. (Try to line the belt up with the wear marks already on the drum from the previous belt).

b. With the tensioner in your left hand, insert the clip end of the idler pulley into the grooves on the dryer bottom casing with the idler wheel pointing to your left. (The grooves are directly in front of the drive motor.)

c. While holding the tensioner in place, insert the belt UNDER the wheel with your right hand and pull it up and over the drive motor pulley.

If this does not explain it well enough, you can also verify by going to repairclinic.com. Click on the Repair Help link and look for the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section on the next page. Look for Whirlpool and locate diagram H.

NOTE: It is normal for the idler pulley to come loose when there is no belt tension.

If your dryer is not manufactured by Whirlpool, or if you simply aren't sure, please post back with your model number so I can give you more accurate information. I hope you find this helpful.
