LG wm2801hwa light stays on and panel won't light up

SOURCE: drum light stays on and wont let me start it again. Its dead but has light.. I have to power down the entire house to get it to start again

I had the same problem. LG addressed the problems as follows:
1. Unplug the unit 2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. 3. Plug the unit back in.
It WORKS!! It's like reseting your computer or alarm clock. You've got to kill the power and press and hold the on button while it's still unplugged.

Solution. Unplug the machine. Hold the power button for 10 seconds. Plug back in. Push the power button and the washer should turn on. Walk away leaving the machine on. When I did this, I came back to find the drum light off and machine would start on command now. Good luck.

If the water still operates then it is the panel switch. If the washer does not operate, then it is the door switch.
