It depends from machine to machine. on some you just need to enter into service mode and then copy sp or system sp. On other Ricoh machines you need to execute a reset. first of all turn on the machine, and make sure no print jobs are present, or remove the network print or USB print cable and then turn on the machine. This is just to make sure that no print jobs are present, because this will make you to not be able to enter in service mode. This code SC553 also and other similar SC codes like 551,552,544 and etc. are connected with the Fuser unit. Most of the time is just triggered as security for overheat to stop a melting or fire. So if you reset the machine with procedure you may make damage, but in most cases is harmless. But if you reset the SC553 and then after short time reappear than the machine have real problem and need to be fix, do not reset it more than to to times in a row on a short time period. To enter into service mode press the following keys in the following sequence: press the yellow(clear) - then press 1 0 7 (numbers on the keypad) - then press and hold it pressed the red stop button until service mode appear on the screen. when service mode appear on screen enter into (copy sp) or (system sp) depend from the model of the machine. Then with the keypad press 5-8-1-0-# on the screen should appear Fusing SC reset, press execute and after show complete turn off the machine and wait at least 30 seconds, turn it on again. if its ready the sc is clear. But if the sc repeat the machine have a serious problem with the fusing unit and need to be fixed, if you try to reset the machine with this reset to much in short time you may just add more damage. for more detail post the model of the machine.

On the display the message came up to call for service with the code SC546what can I do to fix it myself. the machine is not working for printing. machine is ricoh modle SDm645
