The next time you hit the power on the remote, both units should power up together. I have always used the cable/DVR remote to control my devices and left the TV remote in a basket for setup stuff only on the TV.

all samsung remotes work for each other only diffrence some keys on remote may not there but for menu and vol channel all function works once its a tv remote
