Simpson Encore 605 agitator bolt comes loose - does it need loctite?

The wear is preventing it from tightening correctly, loctite won't be a long term fix, it will still come loose again due to the forces put on the bolt by the vibrations of the agitator. The only way to fix it is to replace the agitator.

Kenmore 70 series mod 110.24722300 the top part opf the agitator seems really wobbly, when spinning. is ther a bearing out or what? thanks

Does it agitate properly when in washing cycle? If it agitates "sloppily" there is a little kit you can buy to replace the agitator parts that get worn out. (they are called "dogs"). It doesn't cost much and is fairly easy to do.

The agitator my also just be loose. You can pry off the cap and tighten it up, but I suspect the dogs are worn.

The agitator seems loose on my Maytag top loading machine.. model LAT9206BAE it started this after one of my kids overloaded the machine.. works fine but makes a loud clanging noise while washing.. almost...

Use a 1/4 inch nut driver to tighten the set screw to the agitator shaft. It is about 3 inches up from the bottom of the agitator on the side of the agitator.

The agitator is loose you can move it side to side

If this is a Whirlpool washer, most Whirlpool agitators are a split design (two sections). The top half is known as the "auger", while the lower part is the agitator. Between these two halves is a small cam assembly which is used to drive the auger, and an agitator bolt which holds everything together.

The problem you may be experiencing can be caused by a worn cam assembly, worn agitator dogs or a loose agitator bolt. The following link explains what agitator dogs are and how to access them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608577-replacing_agitator_dogs

If only the auger is loose, I would suspect the dogs or cam assembly need to be replaced. The part number for the dogs is included in the link I provided. For a little more you can purchase the entire cam assembyl which includes the dogs, the cam, the cam seal and thrust bearing.

If the entire agitator is loose, check the agitator bolt to ensure it is tight. DO NOT overtighten as this can restrict movement of the agitator or damage it. Tighten until snug.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part numbers from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. The agitator parts are commonly sold as part of their in-store inventory.

If you have any questions, please post back with a MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid), so that I can provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps you.

Agitator not working

Hi, This agitator is a 2 piece agitator. Can you see if the lower half on the agitator is working properly? If the lower part is working and the top is not, you will need to change the agitator dogs. If neither half are working, you might be having transmission issues.
To change the dog kit, re,ove the top cap on the agitator and locate a 7/16" bolt. Remove the bolt and the agitator will lift out. Pull the agitator apart and the dogs are 4 small plastic pieces inside the top half of the agitator.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.

Thanks

Top section of agitator does not turn even though bottom of agitator is working properly. How do I repair?

You may have worn agitator dogs, causing the upper portion of the agitator (called the "auger") to slip. Or, you could have a loose agitator bolt. The following link explains how to replace the dogs (if necessary) and how to access the bolt:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

If you need to replace the dogs, the part number is included. You can purchase them for about $5 at appliancepartspros.com. For a little more, you can purchase the entire agitator drive replacement kit. Look for it under the "Agitator" parts section. You can also reference the helpful exploded view diagrams the site offers for assistance.

NOTE: When tightening the agitator bolt make sure you do not overtighten. This may cause damage to the agitator, or restrict its movement. Tighten until snug.

If you still require assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

On a two piece agitator the top section doesn't work but the bottom works okay.

This problem is usually attributed to either a loose agitator bolt, or the agitator dogs wearing out. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

The upper portion of the agitator is called the "auger". If it is loose, simply tighten the bolt under the center post cap. DO NOT overtighten as this can cause damage to the agitator, or restrict motion. Just tighten until snug. If you have questions along the way, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Loose agitator

Remove the center dispenser. Under the dispenser is a plastic cap with a pull handle on it. Pull the cap straight up and you will find a mounting bolt underneath. Using a socket and ratchet, tighten the bolt snug. DO NOT overtighten as this may cause damage to the agitator. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number, there is an excellent exploded view diagram of the agitator components under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading. If you still require assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
