50PF9631D won't turn on... red light flashing/blinking 6 times

I have a Philips 50PF9631D/37 Plasma TV that has recently quit working and started flashing the red light on the front six times before repeating this sequence. I have tried plugging it in several times in a row as some people have said to do in these forums, but mine never turns on. Occasionally it will turn the red light to green for a second like it about to turn on before going back to flashing red again, but the screen remains black throughout. I found a service manual for it online and it says that the red light flashing six times indicates a problem with the "5V Supply". I'm unsure of where this is located on the board or if this is completely correct. I now have the back removed from the tv and the capacitors everyone has changed appear to be flat, not bulged, and there isn't any leaking on or around them. Any help in getting my tv running again would be great! I tried a power cord from my printer that was the same type and it now tries to start up every time I turn it on rather than just occasionally.

Your TV main board is damaged and you need a new one. You can order one on ebay and fix it yourself. Make sure you have the TV model/serial number on the back label of the TV to have the right part when ordering.

SOURCE: My Philips 50" plasma flat screen TV will not come

Hi.

The main board is called the board with the input output connection. The capacitors that blow more often are the ones on the main board. If the capacitors have blown, then there may be more parts that may have been damaged.

Can you please give me the TV full model number, and possibly also the chassis number. Both should be printed in the tag located at the back of the TV.

Thanks.

SOURCE: 42pfl7403d/27. Won't turn on normally.

Hello

The symptom you describe is consistent with an overload(short) on one of the power supply output voltages.

If you hear a clicking noise, that is one of the relays ,showing that the TV power supply try to start normally, but then a short condition is detected and power supply shuts off,and all repeats again.

Now from my experience with these units, the most common cause is the power board itself or the Y sustain board. To make the exact determination, further diagnose inside of tv set is necessary(voltages and resistances readings)-a common occurance would be some defective-bulged top capacitors in this power supply you will have to replace the board.

Depending on the models, these boards cost about-$250 to $300 each.Add another $150 for labor and the repair cost will be around-$400-$450.

Tv will not come on. Red light blinking on bottom left front. Red light blinks 7 times

I have the model Philips 37PF7320A/37 won't turn on and MOST articles on the Internet say it's the Capacitors capictors capictors..I checked all of them. My tv just blinked red lights, had the clicking sound at first power on, but then goes black. No sound. No picture. Nothing. Just blinking red lights.

MINE WAS RESISTOR no. 3318 , a 100 OHM RESISTOR ON POWER SUPPLY BOARD.

I BOUGHT REPLACEMENT FOR .99 CENTS SOLDER IT, AND EVERYTHING WORKED!!!

THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK.

JUST A SUGGESTION..
1. CHECK FOR BULGING CAPACITORS (90 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM)
2. THEN CHECK FOR RESISTORS WITH MULTIMETER ( FALLS INTO THE OTHER 10 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM.)

TELL ME IF THAT [email protected]

My Philips 50pf9631d plasma tv turns on then red light blinks 7 times! Philips no help. Local electronics store wants $500 to fix! Set is only 3 yrs old! Please help.

Are you getting picture or sound at all? If not, you could have a very common power supply failure. If you get sound or picture, then you may have a faulty capacitor or resistor on one of the system boards
