I'm printing the demo test page directly from the printer and still does not print out it just hangs say printing demo page.

  • mike245 Jan 21, 2009

I just bought all new cartridges today.

  • mike245 Jan 21, 2009

I have printed a test page many times directly from the printer button without a pc connection. What problem would I be having if I can't even get the printer to print out a test page internally? It just hangs with a "printing document" on the printer led display the light flashes but nothing happens.

Have you tried removing and reinstalling the cartridges? Also you should power-cycle the printer (turn off and on again).

You may want to check your print que and see if there is a print job that is stuck and preventing your other jobs from going out as this is a very common occurance.

to do this go to control panel, select printers and then double click on your printer, it should bring up a list of print jobs, go to the "printer" menu at the top and select cancel all documents and then try printing a new document.

Hope this helps let me know how it goes.

  • Anonymous Jan 21, 2009

this may sound silly but if your printer is plugged into a surge protector or power bar you may see this issue occur. those devices restrict the amount of voltage needed for the printer to work right.

try pluggin it directly into a wall.

Make sure you have the software downloaded fully. Also make sure printer is set as fault. Sometimes a print can go in "que" for some reason. You have to cancel the print, and restart. Is this just recent and is it a new printer? Also you can go to Control Panel, then go to printers, right click and scroll down to properties. This will tell you if your computer is reading the printer correctly.
Please try these first and if by slight chance nothings change, get back to me. I have other solutions as well.

The printing runs into an error, and is unable to fully load into the
print que. Meaning that the print job never really sets up right,. This is due to a conflict with the printers memory or controller board.

  • Anonymous Jan 21, 2009

You need to call a technician to come out and run a service diagnostics on the unit. It is most likely the control board.

  • Anonymous Jan 23, 2009

Follow this procedure to restore the printer to the factory defaults:

        Use the
        (Left arrow) or the
(Right arrow) button to select Service
        , and then press
        (Select).

        Use the
        (Left arrow) or the
(Right arrow) button to select Restore defaults
        , and then press
        (Select).

        The printer automatically restarts.

    May be bad reset chip.
also the drum usually has to be replaced after a couple ink changes.

  • Anonymous Jan 29, 2009

Try resetting the machine with a toner CROM reset chip.

    Here is a manual for your printer;

What operating system are you using? I can guide you through the settings.

  • Anonymous Jan 21, 2009

Ok, let me guide you through the XP set ups.

Go to the "Start" button, then click on the "Control Panel" icon.

On the "Control Panel" page click on the "Printers and Other Hardware" icon.

On the "Printers and Other Hardware" page below where it says "Pick a task" click on the green arrow next to "View installed printers or fax printers".

Now on this page titled "Printers and Faxes" your printer you are trying to use should be listed and have a black check-mark next to it in the name category.

If your printer is not listed then click on the "Add a printer" icon in the "Printer Tasks" side bar.

If it is listed then click on the printer to highlight it in the list and the on the "Printer tasks" side bar click on "Set printer properties".

A window will open that will have your printer name on top and several tabs on the page. Towards the bottom of the page you will see the "Print Test Page" button. Click on that first just to see what happens.

Now since that didn't work click on the "Printing Preferences" button.

Now you have a page that should have your printer name on top and several tabs on it.On the main tab check your settings. Media Type should be plain paper, Paper Source should be Auto Sheet Feeder. If you are unsure about the settings then click the "Defaults" button in the lower right corner of the page. I also click the box next to "Preview before printing" so I know if the program is actually responding to a print command.

Ok, now click the "Apply" button in the lower right corner of the page and then click "Ok" to close that page.

Now the "Printer Properties" page should be on top. Try the "Print Test Page" button again. Make sure you give it a minute sometimes it takes a while to "spool" the print job.

If that doesn't work then we need to check the "Ports" tab on the Properties page.

Click the "Ports" tab and check to see if there is a check-mark in the box next to "USB" Virtual printer port. Also there should be a check in the box next to :Enable bidirectional support".

If those are checked then you need to go to the "Advanced" tab.

On the advanced tab make sure there is a green dot in the circle next to "Always available". Then in the "Priority" box it needs to be the number 1. The "Driver needs to have the name of your printer in it. A green dot in the circle next to "Spool print documents so program .....", and next to "Start printing immediately".

There should be a green check-mark next to "Print spooled documents first" and "Enable advanced printing features".

Click on the "General" tab and print a test page.

Now click "Apply" and then "Ok" to close.

If it still doesn't work then restart your computer and try to print again.

Let me know what happens there are still a couple of things we can do. Good luck.

Printer Printing blank pages

Does it print at all? Have you tried a demo print? menu->information->print demo

Is it printing additional blank pages are all pages blank?

The first thing to check would be the toner.

Try printing out the supply status page (menu->information->print suppies status).

You could also try diagnostics-> PQ troubleshoot.

LaserJet 2605dn Printer: HP Color Laser Jet 2605 printer far left side blac...

Faded prints are possible due to following reasons.

1. Fogged red mirrors inside the Laser box
2. Alignment of the Laser Box
3. Calibration Problem
4. Cleaning Problem

I will guide you with simple steps first, if this dosen't work working with laser box is little tough & time consuming, hence will describe later.

To Calibrate the colors, Press the 'Green Button' in the front panel, use the arrow keys to navigate through menu.

Select 'System Setting' by pressing the green button again, navigate using the arrow keys and select the 'Calibrate Color', select green button to select and confirm to 'Calibrate Now'. This will take few minutes.

In addition to that, to clean the paper path, select the green button and use the arrow keys and navigate thru' menu and select 'Service'. select using the green button and navigate through menu and select cleaning option. This will take few minutes.

Try printing some documents and check whether you have fixed. If you have not got the original print quality, Let know to guide you more technically.

Hp color laserjet 2605dn leaves bluish green lines on prints

Print quality issues can be due to a number of things. There may be a defect in the cyan toner cartridge causing it to leak excess toner. The transfer belt could be dirty or defective. The printer may simply need cleaning. Given that you posted this question during the winter, it's also very likely a low-humidity environment is causing a high-static condition, randomly pulling extra toner onto the page.

The easiest thing to do is clean the printer. Take a vacuum with a small attachment and clean out any excess toner. If you have canned air or a vacuum with a blower you should also blow out toner from any crevices that may not be reachable with the standard vacuum.

If you have a spare cyan toner, you can try installing that and printing a series of test pages. The built-in demo pages are good as they will use a fair amount of toner and should help gauge if this solution helps.

The transfer belt is the most expensive component to replace in the printer. If it needs replacement you will have to contact an authorized HP service company. However, before doing that, you should try the above steps and run a few iterations of the built-in cleaning process. You can navigate the printer's menus to find this function.

Many people over-look low-humidity and static conditions, or do not believe they could have an effect on laser printers. However, static charge is the very principle on which laser printers work and is how the toner is transferred to and held on the page before it is run through the fuser. Low humidity can easily cause dirty printouts. Try placing a ream of paper in a more humid area for a couple days, then load the printer with that paper and print several test pages. You can also try placing a humidifier near the printer and leave it running for several days and try printing test pages again. If this solves the issue, maintain a humidifier in the proximity of the printer for the duration of the season until the weather warms up and the average humidity increases.
