Black Screen - Can not get menu to show to adjust brightness.

How do we adjust the brightness on our tv, when all we see for a picture is a black screen? The sound works fine, but there is no picture when we turn the tv on. Can not get the menu to show on screen, either. Is this a "brightness/adjustment problem.....or possibly something else wrong with tv?

You need to replace the inverter board thats what preventing the backlights from lighting up so you can see the picture. You can get the inverter board from www.tvrepairworld.com

Unplug it from the wall, wait 2 minutes and plug it back in. if problem still exists, its probably the main pcb.

SOURCE: dynex tv no picture screen comes on and then goes black

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.

SOURCE: dynex 32" tv picture goes black

If there is still about ? 24. Volts coming from the Power Board when it goes dark, it will be the Inverter board that needs replacing. If not, it is the Power Board that needs replacing. The Voltages should be written next to the sockets & plugs on the Power Board.

In dark scenes the picture is almost black, cannot see.

Open the settings menu with the TV remote.
Go to Screen/Picture menu.
Adjust brightness up until you are happy
Press save if necessary.

No picture

Sounds like you have a backlight problem. To verify this, turn on the set, dim the lights in the room, and shine a bright flashlight on the screen. If you see a faint picture you have a backlight fault. It could be as simple as a bad capacitor in the power supply, or a faulty inverter board, or in rare cases a bad backlamp.

My cable and tv is but my screen is black and I can hear the sound of the shows and commercials... I just can't see it!

go to the menu and look for the brightness adjustment. most tv's have this control as the brighter the picture the more electricity is used (i.e.your electric bill). also check out contrast and other picture controls. hope this helps. good luck

Some channels on my tv are dark and tinted orange, I used the menu button to display the menue and scrolled down to picture but I did not know how to select picture.

Hello
Adjust colour control to zero, and check for a pure black/white picture. Adjust contrast and brightness control to minimum and check whether the picture goes completly off or a slight picture prevails. If the picture goes out when you turn down brightness control to 1/3 position, that is about 20 points, your TVs screen voltage is very low, and it can be adjustable. If the picture does not go out and more brightness prevails, screen voltage is high. If the screen voltage is high, there will be some fine lines across the screen at about an inch apart; on the whole screen from top to bottom.
Screen voltage adjustment is critical for the clarity of the picture. If it is low, no proper colour will be dispayed. If it is high, it is harmful to both picture tube and your eyes.
Never try to adjust it without proper knowledge about it. The screen control can be located alongwith the LOT [Line Output Transformer], of your tv. There will have two adjustable controls there, one is for Focus, and the other is for Screen. Both are interactive, that is adjusting one will effect an other.

I have a Sony, 54" Projection Screen HDTV that I bought in 2002. I believe it is a 1080i. When I am waatching TV, I notice that when the screen is mostly black, for instance a night scene, the black areas...

Confirm the actual model number as the one indicated in the title is not HD.

Some of these sets had bad picture tubes that on a black screen or blank video input may in your case show faint curved lines and or some color (red, green or blue) present in the background.

If this is the case there is a fairly simple way to attempt to adjust something for this--not in the customer menu but fairly easy to get at and try.

Most of these sets were KP51ws500, 57500 etc.

Screen dim, black has green in it, contrast and brightness = shin

Since you have replaced the Color Wheel, it sounds like you have not adjusted the Index Delay in the service menu. First reset all of the picture settings you have adjusted back to original factory settings. Then on your Samsung TV Remote and with the TV OFF, Press Mute,Power,123. This will turn on the set and put you in the Service menu. Look for the top setting and select or scroll to the OPTION setting and select and look for INDEX DELAY and select that. Once you have the Index Delay selected use the right and left buttons on the remote to adjust for a picture the has no abnormal coloring and while looking at a program adjust for when the blacks look black with no abnormal coloring. Once that is done, turn off the set then turn the set back on. Now the picture should look normal.

I cant get the color right. its to red??? any help? i did notice with the back cover off, there are 6 adjustment screws

yes! those are the screen and focus adjustments. 3 for screen, 3 for focus. try this. go in menu....turn down color, brightness, contrast all they way down. you should then have no picture, but in your case a little red. then go to back of tv and turn those 3 screen adjustments all the way down. slowly turn the screens back up until you get barely a picture. because remember, your brightness and contrast is all the way down. the picture should be dim but seeable and with red, green, blue adjustments, make it a black and white picture. when balanced..... turn up color , brightness, contrast in menu. enjoy!

Green tint I can't seem to fix

Hopefully someone on here has a manual and can tell you exactly where the tint controls are. Also need to try adjusting the color level, turn it clear down so you have a black and white picture.
Is the picture still green over the screen with the color control
set clear down to black and white? If it does, you might
have an issue with the green gun going out or problem in the
circuitry to it.

By the way, the best way to adjust the picture settings on a
tv are to first turn the color control clear down, then adjust
brightness and contrast for best black and white picture, then
bring up the color level to where it should be and adjust the
tint for best red/green ratio.

Screen split with black bar through center, top of picture shows in bottom

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
