Dewalt batteries we have several dewalt 18v battery packs,some are xr2,some are xr+, why do the xr+ have a third contact on the battery, the chargers we have say they will charge all dewalt 18v batteries but they dont have a third contact,please help
There are typically two to three contacts on battery packs. One to charge the battery, one to 120v (household) ground, and in the case of the third contact, grounding the battery pack.

please clear the contact of the battery and charger, charge the battery again. If still no help, please use a good battery to see if it is the problem of the Dewalt DC920KA battery or the charger.
May read instructions and see if charger is compatible of charging the two types of batteries you are charging ,,,,I have 32 dewalt 18v dc9096 batteries and 1d dewalt 18v dc9099 battery
