I have a chamberlain whisper door opener. When i use the door remote or type in my code the door will only open a 1/4 of the way. Not sure what to do at all. Unable to understand the manual
Door will not open past the level of the sensors. One has a solid green light, the other solid yellow. The door closed fine one night, would not open the next morning. Have checked the wire connections and all seems good. Have tried aligning the 2 sensors but have not yet hit the right alignment. In fact, how do I know when they are in alignment - does the yellow light turn green, or what? Was able to get my car out only by unwiring the sensors and opening the door in 3 inch increments - system complained each time with flashing lights. (Opening manually did not work, but that's another story...)

Press an hold the learn button on the garage door opener for 10 seconds. You will notice an amber LED either next to or above the learn button. When the LED goes out the anything that was previously programed will be deleted. Now press and release the learn button once the amber LED will come on steady. Now press the button on the garage door opener you want to program to the garage door opener. You will hear a click and the light bulb on the garage door opener will go off and come back on. Your garage door opener remote is now programed with a new code.
Hi. I have seen this before, although usually not from chamberlain garage door openers.
Pull the release cord that unlocks the door from the opener, and manually open the door ALL the way open.
Then lock back in place in the open position.
Then use automatic opener to shut door.
It will close very slowly, but should close all the way.
Then, open the door again using the remote, and the door will once again open slowly, this time it should open all the way.
Then close door with remote, and door should now close as it is supposed, with the proper speed.
The slow opening and shutting is the system position sensor resetting itself.
This is why your door is acting up.
I would also look up by the belt drive connects to the front of the garage door opening, to make sure there isn't any dirt, cobwebs, or other obstructions on the sensor that may cause it to re-close the way it does.
If the wall button will operate the door up but none of the devices do then look at the wall button. Find the lock button and push it for 2 seconds and then try the remotes again. This is your vacation lock. You can get a manual at chamberlain.com. Now if the door does not open or close with the remotes you can reprogram them. Press the colored learn button on the motor head and then press the button on the remote. Repeat for each remote. If they fail to program you will need a new logic board. Thanks BB
I just had that problem this morning and the cause was that the springs that help hold the weight of the garage door were broken. This caused the garage door opener to raise the garage door a fe inches and then drop again. We called in a professional and $200 later we had new springs and everything works fine now.
There isn't a trick but you must make sure you got the right remotes for your opener. The receiver which is part of the logic board can quit working and it sounds like this may be the case in your situation.
Does it work from wall button? Hit learn button for 10 seconds. Hit again for 1 second and code keypad.Opener lights should blink 2x. Hit learn again for a second and hit button on a remote (Any button you chose). Again, lights should blink. Now should work. Repeat for any other remotes.
