No Sound Cable into cable in on recorder, cable out to tv in. No sound when I turn on DVR or record program. Sound does work when I use av cables from DVR to t.v. and play comercially recorded dvd. Also in using the cable alone I can not get DVR home menu to show up. I unhooked my old vcr adn followed the same hook up procedure but it doesn't seem to work.

    Hi Mohammed,

Thanks. Same cables work OK with the vcr? I am wondering if S-Video cable will correct the problem.

I have a DVR from my cable company which I recently replaced. I have the cable coming to the DVR, then out to my RCA DVD recorder, then out from the DVD to my Vizio TV. I have an HDMI cable connection...

IT SOUND LIKE THERE SHOULD BE AN INPUT BUTTON ON YOUR CABLE OR T.V REMOTE TRY CHANGING THE INPUT. ALSO TRY PLUGGING DIFFERENT AUDIO AND VIDEO CABLES BETWEEN RECORDER AND TV. ALONG WITH YOUR HDMI.

Have magnavox dvd recorder record direcTV DVR programs w/ hdtv

I am unfamiliar with this unit.
If you have scart connecters on both, connect av2 on the tv to av in on the recorder. set the recorder to record from av source.
You should now record a program, I think the static is the fact that composite is out from the dvd only, not an input, and in on the tv, not an output.

Cable Set-Top Box remot won't change sound vol. Only TV Rem. does

They volume indicator you are seeing is meant to show the volume of content if it were to be recorded on the cable's dvr. This indicator has no effect on the volume of content as it is being watched. This feature allows recording of sound at a set volume even while the tv is off. It sounds as though you'll just have to use the volume buttons on your tv's remote, though you might want to try seeing if there is alternative set-up for those cable volume buttons.

Cable hookup and av hookup

Connect your TV to AV1 and you SAT/Cable Decoder to AV2.
on the video select the AV2 channel and it will record whatever is connected to AV2. The AV channel selected it is the input the one not selected is the output.
Some PPV Movie channels are copy protected with some service providers. But most channels are recordable.
The aerial lead coming in your house connects to the SAT/Cable Decoder 1st, then connect the output socket on that to the Video/DVD then the output on that to the TV. As long as the leads you use have different ends on you CANNOT plug them into the wrong socket. As the the aerial passes through each device, the device adds its own RF channel to the feed, so you should be able to tune both a SAT/Cable and a Video/DVD channel onto the TV set aside from using AV/Scart.

Hard To Set Up

I don't really understand the question, but you can connect with any of the connections on the back. You can use a coax (cable type connection), the RCA jacks (yellow, red, white), s-video (black cable and red and white for sound), composite video (red, blue, green and red and white or digital for sound). The DVD will still record no matter how you hook it to the tv as long as it is connected to the SAT or cable correctly.
