SOURCE: Laptop speakers not working

Hi you can try this:

From Start, go into Control Panel, then select Sounds, Speech & Audio devices, then Sounds and Audio Devices again.

On Volume tab, click on Advanced. Now choose Laptop stereo speakers. This may sort out the problem. Try the other options if they still don't work.

SOURCE: My Dell 710m laptop no longer produces sound from

Yes, since I have one, I know where the likely failure point is on the system. The wires for the speakers go thru the right hinge assembly and if you remove the LCD hinge cover you'll likely find a broken wire there at the chafing point (That is where mine broke) so very careful wire splicing and a bit of shrink wrap did wonders.

My laptop doesn't produce any sounds not untili close it halfway if i have the screen open totally no sounds. how do i fix that??

Well, it "sounds" like your speaker wires are either crimping or loose at a connection, you will need to remove the screen assembly to inspect further. Go here! http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins700m/en/SM/sysboard.htm#wp1084976

I hear echo sound every time i play music/movie and i cant figure out to turn it off "how"

Does it happen with headphones in as well? If not, do you have a built-in-microphone? Sometimes the sound coming of the speakers can be picked up by the microphone, resulting in an echo sound. Make sure that the microphone is off (or test it by covering it up while playing some music), and quit out of any applications that are using it.
If you hear it in the headphones as well, it could be a sound card problem, which means it would need replacing. If you don't hear it in the headphones, but hear it in the speakers and don't have a mic, it's either your speakers, or (more likely) your computer just doesn't get along with whatever software you're using to play movies/music.

We can't hear spoken audio on our recent dvds (movies), only the music. Some of the the older movies are fine.

Your center channel speaker is not working. In modern 5.1 movies dialogue only comes from the center channel. Older movies were stereo/mono so the dialogue would come from both the front speakers.
See if the speaker wires are intact and not loose. After that to confirm if the speaker is OK or defective exchange the center speaker with one of the working ones.If the center speaker does not produce sound, you will have to replace it. But if it works, that would mean that your center channel amplifier is not working & for that you will need professional help.
CHECK CABLES FIRST FOR LOOSE CONTACTS.

Dear Sir, I hav dell vostro 1015 laptop with windows Xp Operating system. I have purchased 4.1 subwoofer system. When i am connecting subwoofer to pc audio output & all 4 speakers to back of...

Recheck your wiring and instructions. If your woofer is self powered perhaps the amp is no good. Actually it better have amps since the laptop output will not power those speakers.

Sound does not come through speakers just hear the ipod

Did you find a solution to your problem? I have just come across this problem myself.

I have a 16GB 5th Gen iPod, and I am using a compatible (brand new) Hitachi AXM204UK Micro System. The Micro System produces brilliant sound on the CD and USB settings, however when my iPod is docked ( and is responding to charge and the remote control) it doesn't produce sound. Apart from the internal speakers.

If you could help me, that would be brilliant. :)

I have a 4 month old Dell Studio 1535 laptop, with audio problems

Hi,
Firstly check that the microphone level is down or turned off as this sounds like some sort of feedback that's being produced.

Check the microphone and try to play music again.

Please post back

Good luck.
