SOURCE: Dryer lint screen doesn't seal well and clogging vent

You can buy felt tape from a variety of sources. Here's one:http://www.findtape.com/shop/product.aspx?id=412&bc=F&setscreen=1&width=1436&height=0

I'm sure Amazon sells it as well as most Lowes and Home depot type warehouse centers.

SOURCE: felt insulation around drum is loose?

This is not a serious problem, but it should be fixed. It probably just came unglued and can be reattached.

Can I use super glue to reattach the Felt gasket on a lint screen?

It is not recommended to use super glue to reattach the felt gasket on a lint screen. The lint screen is typically located in your dryer and its purpose is to capture lint and debris that may be generated during a drying cycle. The felt gasket on the lint screen helps to prevent lint from escaping into the dryer and causing potential fire hazards.
If the felt gasket has come loose or detached from the lint screen, it is recommended to replace the entire lint screen assembly rather than attempting to glue the felt back in place. The reason is that super glue may not adhere well to the felt material, and it may not be able to withstand the high temperatures and humidity inside the dryer. Also, the super glue may release harmful fumes during the drying cycle that could be hazardous to your health.
Replacing the lint screen assembly is a straightforward process that typically involves removing the old screen and installing the new one. You can consult your dryer's user manual or contact the manufacturer for guidance on how to replace the lint screen.

Lint screen won't go down all teh way.

take the metal duct out that the lint filter slides down into, stick the metal strip through the hole in the side of the duct so that when it's in the bottom part of strip is flush up against the back side wall of duct and it should have like a half inch or so sticking out of the hole, but before you stick it in clean out the duct and with a thin long screw driver open the plastic cover that the filter slides through and poke out any lint in the slots that the filter slides in.so unplug the dryer, remove the bottom panel of dryer, remove the lint filter and screws that hold the lint filter duct in place they are 1/4 inch head screws, clean out the duct and the side slots up above the duct in the plastic area then slide the metal strip into the hole so that the bottom part that you first put into the hole fits flush up against the back inside wall of duct and the top of strip will be flush to the outside wall of duct and like around 1/2 inch or so still showing.hope this helps

Felt can out of the dryer

Are you cleaning your lint filter regularly? If not, the felt is probably lint that has accumulated inside the dryer as a result. Clean the lint filter, and if necessary, clean the vent hose to allow good air flow and this should take care of the problem.
I hope this helps. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice!

We have had a consistent problem with our dryer. The lint filter eats any staps in the dryer. I have found straps from bras, tops, and belts twisted around the lint filter. They get caught on the edge...

sound like front felt glide assy # upper felt seal part #134440200 lower felt seal #134134700 u can order these from sears.com

these componets support the front of drum and when felt wears away then clothing slips in gap and when dreyer tumbles clothing gets snagged in gap and tears clothing and leaves black scuffs

On my Bosch Nexxt 500 Series Electric Dryer keeps shutting off and gives the E-01 error we have check the exhaust air duct on back of the dryer and we have vacuumed the inside bearing shield what else...

Motor won't work
Lint screen hi-limit (thermal cutout) tripped.
Clean lint screen and clean lint and other debris from front shield, then replace hi-limit. Also check exhaust duct length & # of elbows.
Wire harness failed.
Run resistance or continuity checks to track down broken wire or connector. Replace failed wire harness.
Display shows "E:01" during drying.
Lint filter, air duct or air damper is blocked.
Air leaking past felt drum seal.
Air duct is too long, too small or has too many bends. Inadequate ventilation around dryer (i.e. in a closet).
Clean out filter, air duct and air damper.
Replace felt drum seal. If seal doesn't fit snugly onto drum, wet felt and dry it by running a timed dry cycle for 20 minutes (felt will shrink and fit drum snugly).
Shorten, enlarge, reroute and reduce # of bends in air duct. Move dryer to an area

The dryer screen has a felt lining that has, again, come loose and has detached in one part. I have had the dryer for 6 months and believe this problem should not be happening. What do you suggest?

i agree it shouldn't come apart, but as it goes for the "felt" try to use a fabric softener that goes in the wash, and try to put the screen (lint filter) on the top shelf of the dishwasher, if no dishwasher you can wash it by hand I've used a soft nail brush with dish soap. hope this helps :)

The lint from my dryer is not collecting in the dryer filter, instead it is blowing through the flexhose and into outside vent and clogging up

Here are a few ideas:
1) check the filter screen for holes,
2) check the screen for shape
3) check the screen for tight fit (it should fall/snap into a snug fit)
4) check the drum for a loose fit (there is a felt kit you can buy for this)
5) unplug the dryer and get old lint out of the duct in the unit and between the unit and the outside
and
TRY it again!
