D-Link VWR-VD Router. Wireless fine. No Desktop Internet.

I have a VWR-VD Router with Vonage. My phone, fax, and wireless internet connection are fine. My desktop (hard-wired) into the router will not connect to the internet. I have tried changing ports and replacing the cable from the computer to the router. Does anyone have suggestions?

Please call dlink tech support at 877-453-5465. just an advise on how to handle the call when you reach dlink tech support (agent); do not agree to call back after you troubleshoot with them (they'll be giving you a case id reference# and be advising you to check your pc or call "who" and call them back to continue the troubleshooting). insist to the agent that he need to resolve the problem asap (by the way, agents are not allowed to drop the call or they'll be dead-history!). and if the agent still insisted you to call back, ask for a "senior level technician" to finish the job (escalate the problem).
fyi: dlink tech support handling time to resolve a call is 15 to 18 minutes only. if you reach that 15-18 minutes (max) time the agent will think of a way for you to call back (advising you to check with your pc manufacturer, check with your ISP, call microsoft to update your software, etc... non-sense!) they need to do this in order to reach their handling time (agents need to reach 21 to 25 billable calls, and billable calls are "solution provided", "resolved", and "dropped call"). ---- believe me, i was one of them and repented.

Vonage router

You simply access your router from any Browser suach as Internet Explorer, Firefox , & so on. You simply type in it address, and password and log on and set it up generally there is a wizard to do so. Go to the web site below and get software and a manual so you can follow that and set your self up. http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=VWR-VR

I hooked up my DLink VWR and cannot get internet connectivity

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

How should the D-link be setup to work with comcast and vonage? After I set vonage or internet do not work. I tried the comcast modem to d-link and d-link to vonage.

If you want to RECEIVE telephone-calls:

COMCAST ADSL/CABLE modem <---> VONAGE <---> wireless-router

Turn each piece off.
Turn on the COMCAST modem, and wait for its lamps to settle-down to a "steady" pattern.
Turn on the VONAGE router, and wait for its lamps to settle-down to a "steady" pattern.
Turn on the D-link router, and wait for its lamps to settle-down to a "steady" pattern.
Restart the computer that is connected to the D-link router,
and you should have Internet access.

I need to set a passowrd for my wireless router.

The default username and password is "user". For the security settings, you need to setup WEP/WPA-PSK etc. Steps are outlined in the manual.

I cant connect internet through hardwire(ethernet) but i can connect to internet by wireless... and it keeps on telling me Unidentified network.

Not really ...

1 thing that should not be in common between your wireless and modem is GATEWAY...

Your default modem gateway will be 192.168.1.1

change your router gateway to 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.3.1

to do this ...
1. click on start menu , type cmd , enter
2. COMMAND PROMPT dialogue box opens .
3. type . IPCONFIG
3. note your Default gateway.
4. open internet explorer
5. type your default gateway in browser address
6. it will prompt you to give user ID and password .
7 Your USER ID and password is ADMIN .
8. your router setup page opens .
9 change your local IP address to 192.168.3.1 .
10. Check mark on BRIDGING MODE .
11. Disable and enable your ethernet .
12 . now try connecting to INTERNET .

It should work . .

New computer (Vista) does not connect to internet. We have vonage VWR-VR D-link router and SBC Yahoo.

If you want this computer to connect wrielessly, go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center and click on Connect to Network. Select your router's signal from the list and click on Connect. It might require you to enter a network key. If you don't know your network key, call your ISP.
