I've been fiddling with this for a couple weeks, it's the heater in my shop. So far I've checked and cleaned the flame detector, fire pot, fuel nozzle. I removed the fuel pump and disassembled and cleaned that. I have plenty of fuel in the tank and have good flow. The heater will start up as it should but will only run for a minute or so then shuts down and flashes EE 02.
Hiser36,
If you have an EE2 and a flooded sump, you have a problem. Your fuel is contaminated and caused the sump valve to leak fuel into the sump when it was supposed to be closed. This fills the sump up and the valve gets stuck closed on the magnet. Fuel leaks by and spills over. The stove will light but only run for a short while. You may see an EE6 or EE2. When was the last time you changed the filter? Bottom line, if the flooding continues you will need to change the sump. I doubt the fuel pump is bad . Once the flooding is controlled you can check the pump. Remove the fuel line at the burner and put a cup under it. Try to start the stove. When the Med or Low burner light lights up you should see fuel. If not and there is no thumping noise the pump is bad.

Here is the problems associated with code EE02.
problem cause solution
no ignition: out of fuel check fuel gauge or tank, refuel
fuel tank valve closed open valve turning clockwise
air pocket in fuel line push reset button on the fuel sump, located right inside .
once
clogged flue pipe clean flue pipe
clogged fuel strainer clean fuel strainer
ignitor,circuit board, consult dealer
flame sensor, or fuel
pump malfunction.
it sounds like it may be a clogged strainer located in fuel sump or a bad circuit board hope this helps

Update, the heater is fixed. I found a crack in the firepot, somehow I missed this the first time I tore it apart, I guess I wasn't looking for something like that. Anyway, I sandblasted the pot and welded the crack and problem solved!
Thanks, Norm
hello my heater wasn't working as well, showing this same EE 02 and was over flowing...we had a guy come here and tell us that there was something wrong with the fuel pump. you seem to know what your talking about so i was hoping you could help me...and tell me what to do about this...its middle of winter in northern Michigan without heat...please help.
If the crack was on the bottom of the pot you did not do yourself any good by welding it. The bottom of the pot is concave and must be smooth. Your unit will operate OK for a while but it will not last. The only solution for a cracked pot is a new one. You didn't mention the mat or ring, both should have been replaced. Watch your flame closely. Any sign of a leaping yellow flame and it's time to change the pot, ring and install a new mat.
Good luck,
Tom Hawkins

Sir,
When you say you took the fuel pump apart and cleaned, did you really take the pump apart and remove the solenoid plunger? That would require you to have used a very small screw driver to remove two small screws from the bottom to remove the bracket which holds the plunger in. I do hope you did not go this far.
