Yes,but they are key's.I'm a hobart tech is the mixer apart?

The only one shearing is on low speed gear. The beveled gear (under low sp. gear) part of the key isn't shearing. I had it apart, put it back together. Didn't see any broken teeth, or worn bushings. I don't know how to check the clutch(roller)bearings, or the metal springs that go with them.

I can take it apart if you tell me what to look for. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Haden Mixer is 3 years old, motor is working, at different speeds, but is not turning attachments. Any suggestions please?

In the drive train there are shear pins that are soft enough to shear if the gears are strained. It happens on bread dough if you run the machine too fast or put a piece of bone into a grinder attachment.

Or, sometimes a gear will move. if not correctly shimmed.

KitchenAid Professional 5 Quart stand mixer grain mill won't grind?

From what I know about these and industrial Hobart mixers is that where drive gears are on a shaft they are held by a shear pin that goes right through the gear and the shaft. They are made to shear if the grinder or planetary head is strained. It shears the pin instead of damaging the motor or shredding gears. When they do shear, there is often enough friction to turn the attachment, but not enough force under load. I see two shear pins in this diagram 19/8 and part 14/8. The diagram also show the orientation of bevel gears.

KitchenAid Artisan mixer accessory port not turning

You probably just need a new Shear Pin. This is just a small steel pin like a nail that goes through the gear and the drive shaft. If the strain on the final drive exceeds specs, the pin shears through and thereby saves damage to the gears and motor.

This is one of the Shear Pins. They just call it 'pin, retaining'.

Runs but doesn't turn. Worm gear is not broken.

Something must be broken if the motor is turning and the planetary is not. It will be one of the following, we will start from the first point of contact with the armature
1) Worm gear broken (fuse gear) you say no teeth broken
2) Worm gear not broken but whole unbroken plastic part not gripping aluminium boss
3) Pin through worm gear broken or missing
4) Pin through centre (or bevel) gear broken or missing
5) Pin through small gear in planetary broken or missing
6) Pin through planetary hub centre shaft broken or missing

The most common ones in order of likelihood are, 1, 2, 3 and 6

Hobart A200 mixer. 1st gear has no torque, I can stop it by hand. I found the key sheared on the low speed gear(flat gear, beveled gear part wasn't sheared). I replaced the key, & it sheared it again...

Ed, if you continue to do it yourself, the end result will be tossing good money out. Have a professional check the system and save the unit from permanent damage. Chipping parts of a gear off means a serious resistance force or action has occurred. One force is slowing down as the other is speeding up. Gear alignment can be moved off center, or a sudden application (sudden stop or start) can damage the least resistant parts. For example, when a hook turns within the mixing chamber and the resistance of the content is too great on the turning shaft and gears, which ever part is weakest will break. Complicated I guess.

Hobart 20QT guessing old a200 motor runs fine removed top cover to see but gears not working and mixer does not spin Any diagnosis Help greatly appreciated

The first vertical shaft has a brass gear that runs off the rotor. The ancient models had a spring loaded slip clutch built onto the gear. Upgrade it with a worm shaft kit which gives you a complete new shaft and fixed gears. I think it includes the upper and lower bearings. Maybe replace the grease if it has not been done. Or look for a sheared key on the worm shaft.

Slips in all gears

you have no speed 1,2,3 right?first thing to do is drop the planetary (this is the bottom with the beater shaft)undo the bolt and it will drop down.you will see 1 gear, that gear should not spin without the shaft spinning too.if it does you have a sheared key on the gear.if you have access to the transmission check the worm gear attached to the motor it has a roll pin through it make sure its not sheared.then look at the top left gear assembly and check for sheared (broken)keys.clean up all the parts,if you dont you could miss something.let me know.
