It's at all not worth repairing this old device. the screen can cost more than half the cost of a new tablet, unless the crack is only on the touch panel which is the clear glass mounted directly above the screen. In most tablets, both must be replaced because dismantling the screen or touch panel will usually damage the other. Better to buy a new tablet.
In all warranties, broken screens are excluded. Unless you can prove it is induced by an error made during manufacturing.
Repair of a broken screen is dune by replacing the complete screen and sometimes not only the touch screen must be replaced, the display has to be replaced to.
The best way to go is, visit a phone repair shop, and ask them if it can be done and what it will cost. If it is complicated and it would take more than an hour, the repair could cost more then buying a complete new tablet.
Economic analysis would require more info. Generally, new screens are 100-200 dollars and of the unit is new, that's a no brainer. This assumes a bad digitizer. Could be controls, which are cheaper. Obviously you need to get a couple of repair quotes.
Cracked screens are not repaired under warranty. You have to pay for that. You could go to a phone repair shop and ask what it will cost you if they do a repair. To my guess it could cost more than a new Tablet, so look what a new one costs, before you say please repair the screen of my tablet.
In general, most tablets are not cost effective to repair. You might have several options. In the case of a cracked screen, if you purchased a product plan, it may cover a cracked screen and the place where you bought it may replace it. I other option is to find a local repair shop and haggle out a deal. Find out what the part would cost, amazon search, then haggle on labor, shouldn't take more than an hour. If the tablet cost $250 or less, right it off and buy another. Also, spend the extra money and get a cover for it with reinforced corners. It has saved my tablet 4 times so far.
