A law suit was filed against Samsung for the SC models including your D23. in accordance with the class action settlement, Samsung has agreed to repair or replace the effected models for zero cost including shipping and insurance. visit this website http://www.samsungclassaction.com/7.html or call Samsung repair @ there 1-800 number. Samsung also agreed to refund your money if you paid to have the unit fixed yourself or if you purchaced another camcorder to replace the faulty samsung. I called and they e-mailed me a UPS label to print out and shipping costed nothing. takes about two weeks for the repair and then it will be delivered @ your door like new:)
This is most likely caused by a damaged or misaligned video drum and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.
