The detector was plugged in, my dog bumped into it and now it is a constant alarm. I've tried pressing the reset button and tried plugging into another outlet, tried removing the battery and putting it back in. Once the battery is put back in, it is a constant alarm. The only way to turn it off is by removing the battery. Any ideas on how to get the thing to reset?

In the rare event that your alarm malfunctions,
it will alert you with a short “chirp” and the red

digital model will display “Err” as shown in
Fig. 6.
Seven years after initial power up, this unit will "chirp" every
30 seconds to indicate that it is time to replace the alarm.

Golding93, you could very well have elevated levels of CO in your home. You should leave your house immediately and call the fire department. However, if your CO alarm is 7 years old, it could also be the alarm's end-of-life warning. Regardless, you should definitely call the fire department to have everything checked out. If you need additional assistance with your CO alarm, please call our customer service line at 1-800-880-6788. Thanks for being a Kidde customer. We appreciate your business!

SOURCE: what does an err code E03 mean?
Malfunction signal - Component failure. An intermittent "chirping" alarm will sound every 30 seconds, and an "Err" message will appear on the digital display. The only solution is to discard it entirely and replace with a new gas & carbon monoxide alarm.
