PCM mode will not output dobly digital, use the digital cable connection, not RCA cables, set DVD audio output menu to Dolby digital or DTS. On DVD software menu setup select audio then Dolby Digital 5.1 or Dolby Surround.

Ps4 pro wont play dolby digital on my vudu. i have tested it on my xbox1 and works fine but only plays rear sound when set to optical but I am using hmdi? It shows as multi channel pcm or as m pcm?

Some HDMI cables can cause problems with sound transfer. Another cause is the settings. If the unit is set to put out PCM it will kill the Dolby signals. I once had a DVD player set to "mix" the signals which was great for a standard TV set, but killed the Dolby signals.

My avr 25 will push sound out the rear speakers in test mode but can’t get music out of them

I find that a lot of these depend on the settings of the AVR. Since the test confirms they work. To get rear speakers to work you have to have set say Dolby Surround or Dolby Digital. You might be listening in stereo mode which will switch them off. Some of the units connected to the unit might be set for only stereo playback. If they are connected by HDMI sockets check the settings on the receiver for it. Make certain that DVD players are sending out Dolby Digital signals. NOT PCM.

All the speaker outlets seem to work fine, except the fronts, all will work, but if i plug the fronts in, all the sound then tends to just fade away, and then i have nothing, no sound. i can't figure...

I would:
1- First make sure you are properly testing using a reliable source, such as a CD Player or itunes. 2- Make sure the Listening Preset is not on Dolby Pro Logic. Make sure it is on Stereo mode and see if the problem persists.
What usually happens is that when listening to 2ch (Left and Right) Audio such as Television or Music and Dolby Pro Logic is on as a preset, Dolby Pro Logic analyzes both Stereo tracks, tries to detect the voices (center channel), ambient sounds (surround and fronts) and processes the signals into a 5.1 or 6.1 System. You tend to get a fading effect when Dolby Pro Logic is selected and listening to an old VHS, DVD or even music.
To remove a preset, make sure you select the Stereo button at the bottom left of the remote to pan through the options.
Hope this helps

How do I get the C5 Subwoofer to activate?

Hello
If subwoofer is inactive now, the sound preference settings you set now is wrong.

Before using the remote control for the following
operation
* Set the remote control mode selector to AUDIO

** There are exceptions in the operation mentioned
above. In such a case, follow each instruction

Dolby Pro Logic II*1

# Dolby Pro Logic II has a newly developed multichannel playback

format to decode all 2 channel sources - stereo source and Dolby

Surround encoded source - into a 5.1 channel.

Dolby Pro Logic II has two modes - Movie mode and Music
mode

# Pro Logic II Movie (MOVIE)
Suitable for reproduction of Dolby Surround encoded sources

# Pro Logic II Music (MUSIC)
Suitable for reproduction of any 2 channel stereo music sources

# Dolby Digital*1

Used to reproduce multichannel soundtracks of the software
encoded with Dolby Digital

# DTS Digital Surround*2

Used to reproduce multichannel soundtracks of the software

encoded with DTS Digital Surround. DTS Digital Surround (DTS) is another discrete multichannel
digital audio format available on CD and DVD software

We hooked it up and have no sound

From the Console Settings screen in the System area of the Xbox Dashboard, you can configure the video output of your Xbox 360 console for a widescreen, high-definition TV, determine your audio options, and check your console's serial number and Xbox Dashboard version.
Go to correct section for ... Audio

Change your audio output settings for games from this screen. These audio settings do not affect DVD movie playback. For DVD audio settings, refer to an individual DVD movie's setup screen.

Settings consist of:

  • Analog Output Settings: choose Mono to merge the left and right audio signals so that you can hear all sound through a connection to a monaural TV or monitor; choose Dolby Pro Logic II to listen in normal stereo (no audio surround receiver required) or to listen to Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II soundtracks from compatible games or other media.

Dolby Pro Logic consists of four channels of audio: front left/center/right and a monaural surround channel that is mirrored in each of your rear left/right speakers. Dolby Pro Logic II uses digital signal processing to generate 5.0 audio (front left/center/right, rear left/right) from any stereo (left/right) programming, whether from movies, music, or games. Unlike movies and music, however, games are specially encoded with Dolby Pro Logic II decoding in mind.

To listen in either Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound, you must connect your cable's left/right (white/red) RCA connectors to a compatible surround receiver. For more information, see our connection page for the cable you're using:
  • Digital Output Settings: configure this setting only if you'll be using the Toslink optical digital-audio output from a compatible Xbox 360 AV cable (optical digital-audio cable sold separately):

The default digital-audio setting is Dolby Digital 5.1. If this is your preference, you do not have to make a selection from this screen.

I have comcast basic cable. Recently I have six channels (always the same ones) that don't have sound. All the other channels are fine. We have a small tv in the bedroom also connected to the cable and...

Try changing the audio settings in your tv. Sometimes changing from pcm to dolby digital or vice versa can get your audio back up on these channels. Remember some stations are broadcasting in digital pcm and or dolby digital. I would leave tv on pcm. If that doesnt work check to make sure your not in a second audio mode (meaning set is on sap) sometimes a customer will accidentally hit the sap button. Put unit on stereo setting

Check the settings in the Motorola to make sure it's outputting Dolby Digital instead of PCM stereo.

Indicators on the receiver can tell you if you're receiving mutlichannel audio or not.

Lg home theater to lg plasma tv

This is a typical problem with TV broadcast UNLESS you use a matrix DSP surround sound mode, most DVD audio is either Dolby digital 5.1 surround or DTS multi-channel surround sound, unless you are viewing a HDTV broadcast with 5.1 Digital sound connected from the TV to the receiver then you are probably receiving a 2 channel Stereo sound format, I would suggest that you try to set your TV input mode to a audio Dolby Pro- Logic which will yield 5.1 and should engage all speakers.

I cannot get the functions on the remote to operate.ie pbass dsp/eq etc?

The P.BASS function is only available with 2 channel LPCM sources such as mp3,Divx,cd
and wma. Press P.BASS button and "POWER BASS ON" will be displayed on the screen.
The P.bass does not work with DSP/EQ or DOLBY PRO LOGIC ll modes.
If you press P.BASS in the DSP/EQ mode, the DSP/EQ mode is automatically shut off and the P. BASS function comes on.
The DSP/EQ function is only available in STEREO mode.
Press the PL ii mode button to show STEREO on the display.
This feature works with CDs, MP3-CDs, 2 channel DVD-Audio, DivX and Dolby Digital discs.
When playing a DVD disc encoded with two or more channels, multi-channel mode will be selected automatically and DSP/EQ function does not work.
