Transfering Video Clips

When I transfer a video clip from the camera into iPhoto it ends up as a regular picture. I do not get the little camera symbol at the bottom of the picture, therefore when I click on it it does not open up in quicktime. How do I solve this?

Hi I've had this problem with two Panasonics Lumix so far (FZ-7 and FX-9) - I'm guessing this is a Panasonic firmware / iPhoto incompatibility. The only solution I've found is to manually copy the movies from the camera to to your Mac and then drag n drop them into iPhoto. To do this: 1) Go to the Fnder desktop and open up the camera's hard-drive icon (probably called 'NO NAME' - nice!). 2) You should see a folder inside called 'DCIM' - double-click to open this 3) Inside this you will see at least one folder (though there maybe 2 or 3) called 102_PANA (or 103_PANA etc) 4) These folders are where the camera stores all your pictures and videos and (hopefully) will contain the actual movies that iPhoto neglected to fully import 5) Drag these onto your desktop (or a newly created folder on the desktop called 'Videos from camera' for example) and wait for them to copy fully 6) Now you can safely drag and drop the videos from the folder on your camera into the Mac's Wasterbasket 7) Import the copied movies into iPhoto (either by dragging and dropping or by the 'File --> Import to L:ibrary' menu command) 8) Once they have been imported, you can optionally delete these videos from the desktop now 9) Remember to repeat steps 3 to 8 for each folder you find in the 'NO NAME/DCIM' folder on the camera That's it - hope it works for you. I'd love to know if anyone else has a more elegant solution!! Cheers S

Does it record video clips with sound? I can record video clips but when i playback it has no sound,if it does have the feature then how would i activate it?

Yes, it does record video with sound but this camera has no inbuilt speaker for playback that sound so transfer video clip in computer and playback it with Windows Media Player to get sound and picture.

I can't figure out how to get video clips off my Olympus Stylus 830 and onto my computer. All of my pictures transfer but none of videos will.

the video clips have a different file ext than your pics-either use the software that came with the camera or try a memory card reader for your xd card to genericaly transfer to xp or vista

Perhaps you can take out the xd card and use an external card reader to transfer the photos.

Transfering video clips?

Make sure you're using a program that recognizes video files. iPhoto, for example, doesn't. iMovie does.
