Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

How do they connect to the camera

I presume your question is a typo. Cameras do not connect to cameras, they usually connect to computers to download the photos. The camera shouold have a download cable with a normal USB plug on one end that connects to the computer and a very small plug at the other end that connects into a matching socket somewhere on gthe camera. If you have the camera socket but no cable then either go buy a cable from any computer or camera shop, or you can remove the camera storage card and insert into a computer card reader. It will then act as a new drive and the computer will give it a drive letter. The same will apply if you use a connecting cable between camera and computer. Either way when the computer recognises the camera card, it will give it a drive letter and you can then download your pictures to any folder on your computer. However, almost all digital cameras have download software on the driver disc and if that is the case with your camera then go get the connecting cable - take the camera with you to the shop if you're not sure of the cable type

hi kbailey. Turn on the camera and go to the menu. find the reset function. Reset the camera. This means you are returning it to all of the settings it was at when it was brand new out of the box. Joe

When I connect my camera to my computer to download the pix from my memory card, I get a blue screen and MSDC. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. This is normal, it's the camera simply telling you that it's connected to the computer. Once the camera is connected to the computer, use the computer to transfer pictures.

Fun! Digital 320: "Camera not connected." -- Serial connection

The "Camera not connected" error message indicates a communications problem in the serial port connection between the camera and the computer. Simply put, the computer cannot find the camera it is being asked to connect with. Whenever an external device (digital camera, scanner, Palm Pilot, etc.) is connected to a computer through its serial port, a communications error is possible. There is usually no single "most likely" reason for the conflict -- it could be a hardware issue as easily as it could be a software issue. Fortunately, the most common causes of this error message are also the most easily rectified: 1.Make sure that the camera power is on. 2.Make sure that the camera cable has not been damaged. 3.Make sure that the camera cable is properly connected to both the camera and the computer. 4.Clean out the computer's Temp file.
