Keys and buttons are working fine at the moment, albeit a little sticky, but I want to clean under the keys and touchpad buttons asap so they don't get corrosion damage. How do I go about removing the keyboard, or is there a safer method?
Not so sure on the touch pad, but the keyboard is easy to remove. Make sure the laptop is switched off first.
There are a series of little clips holding the keyboard on. Look along the top above the F keys you will see 3 or 4 little clips, push each of them in and up (away from the keyboard) using something thin and blunt so as not to cause any damage.
There will also be some little clips each side of the keyboard, these do not push in, you need to manoeuvre the keyboard past these.
Lift the keyboard from the top as it slots into some grooves at the bottom.
There will be a ribbon cable connecting it to your laptop, this is easily
undone and the keyboard is off.
Click "Accessibility Options."
Click "OK" to unlock the keyboard, including the keypad.
Click "Start," then "Control Panel."
Click "hardware and Sound," then "Mouse."
Click the "Touchpad" tab. Click "Default" under the "Touchpad" tab to reset the touchpad to its original settings.
Clear the boxes next to "Use Sticky Keys," "Use FilterKeys" and "Use ToggleKeys."
Unlock Touchpad
hope this helps
