Coins stuck in washer

It sounds as if coins are stuck in the plastic pieces attached to the drum. How do I free these coins?

  • ajprich Feb 16, 2009

It sounds like coins are stuck, the washer wont tumble. You hear a tumbling noise with coins but the tub is not moving

I have a coin stuck in my drum also. I can hear it but cannot figure out how to get to it. At least my drum still spins.

I've used a butter knife or putty knife to pry them up.. just enough to allow the coins to slide back out. Just roll the drum back and forth with the knife wedged in there. Good Luck.

Samsung washer WF328AAW/XAA metal pieces in hose?

Could be a number of things. Either something foreign was left in a pocket (Coins are the most common object) and has come out in the wash. The coin rattles around and falls in between the tubs through the gap in the front gasket. When this happens, the coin can hit the bracket which holds the heater element in place and tears it off. This causes a lot of damage. Most Samsung have plastic outer bowls and often, the tub will be split and a leak will start from underneath. Lastly, it could be the drum main shaft and spider assembly. This is what holds the spin tub into the machine. If this fails, bits of metal will come off. Usually seen as bits of corroded aluminium that get stuck in the pump and hoses. When this happens, the tub usually goes loose and the machine makes a horrible grinding and banging noise when spinning. I would say that if this has happened , its time for a new machine.

How to clean a coin trap?

Thanks for your post, friend!

I understand that you looking for steps on how to clean the coin trap on your Frigidaire washer. Here are the steps to access the coin trap.

· Assure power has been disconnected to your appliance.

· Tilt the unit up to where the front feet are in the air and the back feet are still on the ground. Please make sure it is tilted up safely.

· Look inside on the bottom right hand side there is a black accordion piece. This is the screen trap or coin trap.

· Have towels available with you because any access water will come out.

· At the top of the coin trap where it is attached to the drum you will notice a silver spring and screw. Loosen the screw and wiggle the coin trap out.

· Clean the trap and follow these steps in reverse to reassemble your washer.

Best of luck! -Matt

Coins

It might well be a coin! Coins and other items that fall from clothes pockets into the drum stay in the drum. They are too large to pass through the small drainage holes in the drum. But my granddaughter found a way! She opened the washing powder dispenser at the top of the machine and dropped three coins (that we know about) into the drawer and closed it. The water fill cycle then somehow swept the coins down into the drum. To get them out I had to dismantle the machine and remove the pump outlet assembly and poke a stiff wire into the drum and drag the coins out. The machine is a completely different make to your but I would assume a similar method would work. good luck

Clean the trap

AFFINITY COIN TRAP

1. Unplug the unit.

2. Tilt the unit up to where the front feet are in the air and the back feet are still on the ground. Please make sure the unit is propped up safely.

3. Now that the unit is propped up look inside on the bottom right hand side there is a black looking accordion piece. This is the coin trap.

4. Clean the drum out with as much water as possible and have towels ready. The next step you will have the remaining water come out.

5. At the top of the coin trap where it is attached to the drum is a silver spring with a silver screw. Loosen the screw and wiggle the coin trap down from the drum.

6. Reach inside the coin trap and clean what is inside of it out.

7. Put the unit back together following the same steps backwards

My washer won't spin. There is a coin stuck inside

If the coin is in between the 2 drums but is free floating you amy be able to get it by removing th bottom drain hose from the drum but this can become a pain unless you are lucky as the coin will move with the machine tipped over. the other way is to remove the heating element while the machine is upright and use a stick or a grabber to get it out.

Plastic piece stuck between drums

First remove power from the washer. The top panel #2 in the diagram can be removed by removing the two screws in back. The kick panel #16 also has two screws that hold it in place. From there you should be able to find what you lost. Best of luck!
