This video will show you how to change a door seal on this Bosch 500 series front loader washing machine
$ 85 later and it is just the drive belt... 10 screws and you're ready to go... oh, the technician was friendly enough to tell me to run a cycle with vinegar because the washing machine was stinking so bad!

My wife says that a pull string from a pair of pants was hanging out of the door. When we opened the door the wire was off. I was able to get this back on.
we had a similar issue last week. a shirt sleeve was caught in between the door and the drum. eventually the seal gasket and the sleeve entangled and the whole load created a gigantic knot. after getting the laundry out and getting the gasket and the sleeve seperated i had to 'install' the gasket again and tighten it down with the wire.
it is relatively easy to tighten down. set the gasket in place, then start setting the wire in at the top, the spring has to face downward (there is a groove at the bottom for the spring), then go half way down on each side of the gasket. a second person now has to ensure that the gasket and wire don't slip up. pull the spring apart and slide the wire over the gasket rand. done.
however, our washer won't spin anymore right now.
i have a hard time believing that a technician has to come out (in our case for $ 85) just to diagnose it as this seems to be a common 'safety hazard' with front loading washing machines that something gets caught between door and gasket...
anyone with any ideas?
thanks...
I had this problem. The drive belt had come off. Just take off the bottom panel off the washer, no need to take off the top part and reattach the belt.
My wife opened the door and the wire clamp fell out and the gasket was out of place.
My wife thinks it was because I overloaded the washer. Not sure if anything was hanging out of the dryer, but one of my t-shirts was twisted into nearly a knot (as if one end got tied or caught in the door and the rest twisted up during the spin cycle.
Did as the previous poster suggested, working the wire from the top down, with someone (my wife) holding the wire in place near the bottom. What really helped were some small needle nose vice grip pliers to grab one end of the spring while I pulled the spring apart to get the last bit of the wire around the gasket.
hi appldoctom...
just saw your comment...
in our case the shirt sleeve entangled itself with the rubber gasket and pulled it off this way. also the load was not evenly balanced anymore as it all became one knot. however the door still locks.
for that door boot spring to come off,[i may be wrong with your situation],but the washer would have to go out of balance in a bad way.so if that happened that incident may have damaged the door lock mechanism.because it wont spin if wont lock door
