There is a short in the set. Could be the high voltage circuit or the power supply, if you have the service manual and the proper test equipment, it should not be that hard to trace this down. But if you do not have the printed circuit board experience with solid state TV sets, play it safe and call in an authorized Sony repair center. Good LuckThere is a short in the set. The primary power supply is good, maybe the horizontal output transistor is deffective thats why there is no high voltage supply in the picture tube because theflyback have no supply voltage and oscilation. So check the harizontal output transistor and replace if deffective.

I have a Philips 60" Rear Projection, and all of a sudden I have no picture or sound. I push the power button, and all it does is click. It will keep clicking until I turn it off. Anyone seen this problem?
Since the set appears to "recover", it suggests either a poor solder connection or bad cap somewhere in the power supply. The 7 blinks indicate the problem circuit is in the horizontal area. Check the regulator (STRxxxx) IC in the power supply. If you do not have experience working with TVs, please refer this repair to a shop. The regulator IC costs around $25.
