Maytag Neptune MAH-1 won't stop filling with water

I received this front loading Maytag Neptune MAH-1 washer a week ago. It's eight years old. It worked fine many times, and then we moved it. The on light didn't work, so we took the back panel off to tape the "on" light plug closer to the little hole meant for the light.

Next time I used the machine, water started pouring out the middle bottom of door. We started collecting the water, the whole family with buckets etc. Then we realized that the cold water intake kept going even though it was in spin cycle, and even after the spin cycle was finished.

We turned off the main intake, and then only could we empty the machine.

The next day, I noticed some more water in the drum, so put it in spin again and walked away. Came back 10 minutes later and opened the door, only to have a waterfall pour out. I quickly slammed it shut but not before many gallons were on the floor.

Turns out that after the spin cycle, the machine just kept filling up.

So... what to do?

Well this morning, it got a bit more complicated. I decided I could probably do a wash, and then just turn the water intake off during the last spin, so I didn't have the flood again.

Now I can't turn the washer on. That is, while I press the ON button down, it starts to fill up, but as soon as I release it, the machine is off. It makes me think the whole "computer" if there is one, is hooped.

A couple things may be going on here... you may not want to hear, but the Neptune has a had many "consumer related problems".

If your complaint is "will not stop filling with water" I would access your inlet water-valve (typically blue with 2 black battery looking solenoids; where your water-lines connect directly), test for continuity and replace as necessary. Sometimes inlet-water valves also go bad where the complaint is: "no water comes in at all".

    Your problems can be steming from one of the following;

Defective Door/Safety Switch (Most likely); Upon pressing start, the computer control board passes power to door switch acknowledging the door is shut. Then, upon acknowledging the door is shut, power is then passed to the water valve to open and allow water to enter. * This especially may be the case, since you've previously described door problems where the machine actually let you open the door when full with water.

I would disconnect all power to the appliance, remove and test the door switch for continuity; while ensuring to depress the switch when testing. (Should have 2 screws located near the door switch; slowly back-out and disconnect attached wiring and label appropriately)

Defective Computer Board: Difficult to diagnose; about $150 for part only.

Maytag Neptune MAH6500AWW '03 front load nf code it is OVERFILLING won't shut off, water pouring out door! new drain pump last week & checked hoses in front 2 days ago. now this, help?

nf stands for no fill, so this means the washer's water level sensor is defective or plugged with dirt. That is why it is overfilling.

Mah 6700 is stopping after 1 minute with a reading of NF

Did you check the screens in the watervalve when you removed the supply hoses? They can crud up over time and restrict the flow. Clean them in-place with a toothbrush and spray bottle. Reconnect hoses and test. While testing move temp switch from HOT to COLD to WARM settings and observe flow of water and temp of water in each position. Cold may flow a little faster than HOT but should be close to same flow rate. WARM however should have twice the flow rate of hot and cold temps seperately. Let me know what you find.

It means that the Washer does not turn on water valves to fill washer with water.

Try the following steps and the problem should be solved.

1.Is the water turned on?

2.Check inlet hose screens for restriction.

3.Check wire connections in harness leading from machine control board to pressure switch.

4.Check water valve.

5.Check inputs and outputs at machine control board.

Front load washer doesn't spin

My Maytag® Neptune® washer filled with water, but it won't spin or drain-what now?

Start by making sure the machine is plugged into a live (working) electrical outlet. Then check the appropriate circuit breaker and reset it if necessary (or check the fuse if you have a fuse box).

Next, inspect the drain hoses and remove any kinks. Take a look at the drain, too - if it's clogged, call your usual drain service person.

Then close the washer door and firmly press the START/STOP button. In a few moments, after the door locks, the washer should begin to spin. (For your safety, the washer will not tumble or spin unless the door is closed and locked.)

If this doesn't work, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-688-9900 for toll-free assistance and service scheduling if necessary.

Won't Run

The humming usually means the motor is trying to start but can't either because of weak windings or not enough electrical power. Need to check the motor control.

My Neptune washer MAH9700

I have a Maytag Neptune MAH 9700. It died one day and the door remained locked. I am guessing the circuit board is fried so it's a good thing I purchased a five year extended warranty. The problem though, is that my 2 year olds BLANKY was in there and she won't go to bed without it. Can't wait 2 weeks for the repair guy. I was able to remove the top and (after I unplugged it of course) get my hand to the bottom of the switch housing. Seems there is a small opening at the bottom. I pressed up with my finger and was able to get the door opened. Whew!!! Hope this helps. ; )

Clothes still wet washing on Maytag neptune

Your pump, or the hose between the pump and drum, might be clogged.  Could be spare change from unemptied pockets.
