Picture went out on my 36'' RCA television, still have sound.

I would start with the Tcon but the main would do this as well, along with the power board...test the voltages coming from the ps board when its giving issues and see if they are ok, if they are try the tcon board

may your picture tube in bad condition or no filament voltage

Does it only happen when you use your Xbox?

Try pulling the cable in and out between the TV and Xbox

RCA Entertainment Series 32" Plus Gold, GEMSTAR, xbox ready has been in the shop twice so far. Transformer replaced and 6 months later the picture suddenly had horizontal white lines that gradually spaced apart more from top to bottom and it had a gray hue and fuzzy, but I still watched it for 3 months that way. Today I turned it on and about a minute later I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back and the picture disappeared, screen went black. Is it worth fixing again? A shorted horizontal output transistor or shorted flyback. If the flyback is shorted replace also its HOT.

If it is not a hardware problem, it is most likely the Closed Captioning system.
If you can still see the on-screen menu, go into your TV's menus and disable Closed Captioning.

check for high voltage s3ection of your TV. A Flyback transformer is defective especially in the high voltage cale of your flyback....

1)confirm service # on back of tv 2)Is sound from tv or surround system? 3)suspect bad flyback xformer.
