Purchase or borrow an imported DVD. The only real reason to make your DVD player region-free is if you plan on watching imported DVDs.

2 Locate your DVD player's brand name and model number. These can usually be found on the box the DVD player came in, or on a sticker close to the video inputs or on the bottom of the DVD player.

3 Have your remote handy. You will need your remote to enter the input codes into your DVD player.

4 Locate a Web site that can help you with the codes you need for your particular DVD player, since all DVD players have different codes. Try DVD Exploder or Video Help (see Resources below). Both have an extensive list of codes for almost every kind of DVD player manufactured.

5 Enter your brand name and model number when prompted to do so on the Web site. If your particular model number is not available, try searching under the brand name. Sometimes you will be able to find a model number that is close to your DVD player's model number.

6 Enter the codes into your DVD player with your remote. Be sure the DVD player's door is open-almost all codes require the door to be open.

Google for it by model numbers but I doubt you will find one that works.

(Sony DVD recorders may use 302, 321, 322.)

However, the codes programmed into a universal remote are limited to those for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your DVD player is newer than your remote, you may need a newer universal remote.

I don't think that your DVD is made by Dolby, so the first step will be to find out who manufactured your unit. Sony makes a model 802, so if that is correct, then one of these codes should work: 1396, 0987, 0988, 0989, 0399, 0986, or 0389.

Hi here is a link to the sony manual for your model. But note the codes usually come with the new remote manual or on there web page by looking up the model in the remotes manual under codes. I hope this helps you.

Look at back of Sony remote (or inside battery compartment) and find the product code.
Do the same with your dvd player (product id, model number).
Go to Sony website and you may get coding info in the support/download section.
Alternatively, there may be a telephone support number that you can dial for assistance.
