I want to use the Onyx Blackjack recording interface not only for recoding but also for mixing the inputs to monitor. The Interface does this for me, but only when connected to a pc, which i don't want to turn on every time I need the interface to mix... Is there a way to power the mixing capabilities of the device without a pc?

The Mackie 1620,1640 or 1220 mixers are designed to be used with this card. Here is a link for you:http://www.mackie.com/products/onyxfirewire/

What is the setup you are using. What mics (make and model). What are the settings for the channels? With this info, I should be able to assist.
Please update this.
Thanks,
Dan
SOURCE: How can I set up
This unit has 2 AUX sends, both of which can be used as monitor mixes. The top controls on each channel determine the pre-fade level for each mix.
Conenct a cable from the AUX out (either 1 or 2) to an amp. The only restriction is that the level control is a knob rather than a slider.
If you have any other questions, please update this and I'll try to answer for you.

Just use balanced audio interconnect cables (XLR or TRS) between the mixer and the M-Audio interface.

It is likely that your compter is running out of time to service the audio interface. You need to turn off wireless connections, turn off all Anti-virus and antispam and anti popup software that might be running. You are probably getting underun errors.
When data is missed due to insufficient processor power/timing, this causes the sound to break up badly.
