    Same problem. On my laptop, when I opened it in explorer, there were two folders: Internal Memory and External memory and it showed all my files in each. My new computer will only read it in MSC mode;
When I go to My Computer I get:
Removable Disk (F:) = please insert a disk in drive (F:)
Removable Disk (H:) = got all my internal memory music files
Sansa Fuze (G:) = Full of empty folders labeled MUSIC, PHOTO, VIDEO, etc...
Updated firmware and monkey'd with USB settings, nothing seems to be working.

    answer from sandisk support :

    Hello!

Thanks for contacting SanDisk Technical Support. It isour goal to make sure you have all the resources you need to get themost from your product.

First you have to make sure that youhave the latest version of Windows Media Player on your computer. Ifyou do not have the latest (version 11), please update it. Try toconnect the player to a back USB port of the computer. Make sure thatyou have USB ports 2.0 on your PC.

If the PC still doesn’t recognize the player, please try to force the MSC mode:
    • Turn off the device
    • Switch to Hold/Lock position
    • Press-and-hold the Left << button while connecting the device to the PC

Now try to low-level format the player:
    1. Right Click My Computer, select Manage
    2. Go to Disk Management
    3. At the bottom of the window you should have a list with different drives.
    4. Go to the Removable Disk (which has approximately the same capacity as your player)
    5. Right click white box on the right of the Removable Disk and select Format or New Volume
    6. Select the File System FAT32
    7. OK

TheMSC mode is used in order to copy/paste music. You have to use the MTPmode in order synchronize music with Windows Media Player. If youcopy/paste files to the player while it is connected in MTP mode youwill not be able to see those files in the PC.

To see how youcan create and download a playlist to your player, visit the URL belowand go to Windows Media Player 11 and see the movie 7) Adding aplaylist to your Sansa MP3 player in MTP mode using Windows MediaPlayer 11 (Windows XP | Vista).

With my Sansa Clip I just have to make sure it is set to MSC, then I can always see the files in the Clip from my computer. I transfer a lot of mp3 files to the Sansa Clip from a SmartCard with a Memorex TravelSync connected to both the Clip and a SmartCard reader. Initially, I couldn't figure out how I could play them on the Clip but not see them when connected to a computer. But when I set the USB Mode to MSC, I could see all the files.

Why wont this sync with my itunes library?

Hi, Is the SanDisk Sansa Fuze compatible with iTunes? In some ways, it is. Unfortunately, the Sansa Fuze and iTunes don't always play nice together. You'll have to get a few workarounds to make these two sync together.

The SanDisk Sansa Fuze and iTunes

The SanDisk Sansa Fuze is natively a Windows product. You should be able to sync it with Windows Media Player automatically. However, not everyone owns a Windows PC and even if they do, they might store more music in their iTunes library.

If this is the case for you, you might find it helpful to be able to sync your Sansa Fuze with your iTunes music library. Bear in mind that you won't be able to sync apps, games or any other iTunes products that are not formatted for use on a Sansa Fuze.
Using iTunes with the Sansa Fuze

So, is the SanDisk Sansa Fuze compatible with iTunes? If you download the right software, it is. Apple offers a free download that works with many other non-iPod MP3 players, Sansa Fuze included.

Unfortunately, this product only runs on a Mac operating system. However, if you own a Mac, this is great news because it means you can still use your Fuze without buying a Windows PC.

If you use a Windows PC and want to transfer your iTunes music to the Fuze, don't lose hope - there's a way to do that, too.
Syncing the Sansa Fuze with iTunes

If you're using a Mac, visit this link for Apple's free software download. It comes directly from Apple, so you can be assured that it's spyware-free.

Install the software on your Mac. You need Mac OS X 10.4 or higher as well as iTunes version 8 or higher.

Plug your Sansa Fuze into the Mac and wait for the software to open. You should see a listing of your iTunes music library pop open in a window. You're then given the option to sync as many songs as possible onto your Fuze.

The syncing process is similar to syncing an iPod. Don't unplug the device until it's finished.
Syncing the iTunes Library in Windows

You can sync your Sansa Fuze with iTunes using a script called the Automator, found here. Once downloaded, open the script under your "Downloads" folder on your "C:" drive and find a string of characters that looks like this: "/Users/richard/Music/*.mp3".

Replace the name "Richard" with your own username. Don't change anything else. Select "File," "Save" from the menu.

Select the Automator icon with the right click button on your mouse and choose "Open with," "Automator Runner." If working properly, this should automatically sync the music from iTunes with your Sansa Fuze.

If that doesn't work, go into your iTunes library and highlight any DRM-protected tracks that you purchased from iTunes. Right-click and select "Make MP3 Version." These should now be compatible with the Automator.

This sounds like more or less of a "hack" than a solution, but this might be the only way to sync music from iTunes to your Fuze using Windows. If all else fails, make MP3 versions of the songs as shown above, then navigate to your iTunes folder where those files are stored. Then drag and drop these into Windows Media Player, where they should sync right onto your Fuze.

Hope that helps..

My Sansa e260 player works fine, plays my music and everything, but I have a problem with adding/deleting music. When I connected it to my computer, it did not recognize the player and it did not show up...

MSC will allow you to see the expansion card ( 2Gig E200 series 4gig Fuze) mtp won't.....MTP shows you your music folder in the media folder thats where you put your music plus expansion..... make sure your usb 2.0 driver is installed..Syncing to wmplayer puts music in the mtp music folder. change usb modes again and use the explorer to see the sansa msc lets you sync any Q/A IM or email me @ [email protected]

How do I download a book or music to my sansa . I just received it as a gift and do not understand how to work it. I want to download a couple of audio books and some songs

Use the supplied cable to connect the Fuze to your computer. It should show up as a removable drive, one of whose folders is called "MUSIC". Drag&drop your audiobook and music into that folder. For future ease, I suggest keeping the file structure, copying the folders intact.

I don't know how to download music on my sansa fuze (4GB)

On your Sansa Fuze, go to the "Settings" menu, then go to "System Settings", then go to "USB Mode", then select "MSC".

Now, connect it to your computer, then double-click "My Computer" on your computer's desktop to run Windows Explorer. You should see your Sansa Fuze show up as "SANSA FUZE". Double click on "SANSA FUZE", and you should see a folder called "MUSIC". Copy your music into that folder. When done, unplug your Fuze and your music will be on it.

Sansa Fuze MP3 Player - it is loading pictures to

Is it Loading Album Art? If this is the case, I don't think you'll be able to to stop it, Album art is typically very tiny in file size, and should have negligable impact on your available space. If it is syncing automatically to a folder, try moving any pictures in that folder somewhere else. This can probably be done with Album art as well, but you'll need to turn on the Setting "Show all Files (Including Hidden and System Files) in the Folder Options Dialogue box.

Deleting music off of my sansa E250r!!HLP ME

If you originally used rhapsody (or began in Rhapsody mode) , you have to use rhapsody to remove the songs. If that doesn't work, you can manually open the music folder by enabling "hidden folders" under "tools" -> "folder options..." -> click the "view" tab -> scroll and check "show hidden files and folders". Then go to My Computer -> Sansa e250 -> "system" -> "music" -> then delete the songs. I don't know the effects of using this method, so use it at your own risk.

Btw, Real Player should do fine as well.
