Limited Connection We're using two wireless laptops on a officeconnect ADSL wireless router, but they both intermittantly loose connection (sometimes we get a "Limited Connection" baloon, sometimes not). I've tried fixing the IP's, leaving them on auto and fixing only one machines IP, but nothing seems to solve the problem. One machine is runnning vista and one is running XP sp2. Help???

The connection is limited

If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wirelessconnection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptopprobably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and thenclick Repair.

I connect fine to it but cannot get to internet

This is not a trivial task but to start, I presume that your Wireless Router is connected to an ADSL or CABLE modem:
1) Make sure that you can connect to the Internet/Web directly from the ADSL/CABLE modem. 2) Once you have step 1 validated, connect your Wireless router to the ADSL/CABLE modem. 3) Ensure that you can communicate to the Wireless router and use Netgear supplied software - I suggest that you connect your PC/LAPTOP used for configuration directly via an ETHERNET cable attached to your router: 'NETGEAR's Smart Wizard™ makes the set-up of the RangeMax™ wireless router easy and hassle-free. Smart Wizard automatically detects your ISP's network settings, then walks you through each step of the installation proces' 4) When the installation is finish, try connecting to the internet via the ETHENET cable on your router. If it does not work, the FIREWALL on the ADSL/CABLE MODEM may be blocking the port and needs to be opened/disabled. 5) You can now concentrate in getting the WIFI working by first using an 'unsecured/no encrytion' connection by setting an appropriate SSID. 6) Once setp 5 is working, you SHOULD NOW SECURE your Wifi connection by using a selected encryption (such as WEP or better) and security key.
ps. you will get this 'limited access' message if anywhere in the device chains the IP addresses cannot be resolved.

Limited or no connectivity

you need to get into the routers settings (192.168.1.1 in your web browser) and look for DHCP, and enable it so as to give your pc's there automatic ip addresses, also check in the general settings if it's a modem router that you have got a internet connection from your ISP and all the dns and ip addresses are showing. Go to the properties of each network card in network connections in your control panel and click on the TCP/IP line and click properties again and ensure obtain ip address automatically is selected and click ok. Restart all pc's if neccasary and refresh your web browser when trying to get online.
