I need a cable to connect to HP laptop
Use any USB cord available at electronics stores that has a male on one end and a female on the other, obviously of the correct length.
I would suggest you going to radio shack and see if they have a cable for it. If they dont try looking on ebay , or look around on google for stores near your location for the cable. Or another suggestion would be go to best buy and ask them.

Most USB hubs do not need an external power supply, except when a connected USB device draws more power than the computer/laptop USB port can supply. In this case an external power supply will need to be connected to the USB hub.
Normally this would be a 5 volt power supply, but make sure the polarity on the connector matches the power connector on the hub, check the label on the hub, sometimes it states to power requirements of the hub as well as the polarity on the connector. Normally the pin on the hub's power connector is positive (ie. +5V)

This USB hub is not powered by an AC adapter. Therefore, some devices that need more power will not work well on it. You don't mention what it is you are pluggin into it, but I suspect this may be your problem. Devices like webcams pull way too much to be on a hub without AC.
Did I solve your problem? If so, please rate this. ty.

Some external USB hard drives, typically 3.5" drives, draw more power than a singlee USB port can provide through one port (the standard is max 5v, 500mA per port). Usually the drive will ship with a USB cable with 2 USB male connectors on one end, with one colored red. This is for you to plug into a second USB port to draw up to an additional 500mA power through the cable to help spin up your external hard drive.
Most USB hubs I have seen draw a maximum of 2A or less and the allow this to be drawn upon by the ports at up to 500mA per port. But a 7-port hub will not be able to provide full power to more than 4 ports, which is normally OK because few devices pull the full 500mA. Sometimes just reducing the number of items on that USB hub to 3 or 4 will solve your issue. And you cal also use a hub with its own power source to help meet the current demand for all 7 ports.
